The Loader Operator at our Data Center projects are responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner to support construction operations. This position may operate loaders, excavators, skid steers, graders, and other equipment used in utility and civil construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate loaders and other heavy equipment on active construction sites
  • Load, move, and place materials according to project needs and supervisor direction
  • Perform grading, leveling, trench support, and site preparation activities
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections including fueling, lubrication, and fluid checks
  • Identify and report equipment defects, mechanical issues, or unsafe working conditions
  • Follow all OSHA, DOT, company, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Work closely with field crews, truck drivers, foremen, and supervisors
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and assist with basic preventative maintenance
  • Read and understand site plans, grade stakes, and work instructions
  • Assist crews with additional labor duties when equipment operation is not required
Qualifications
  • Prior experience operating loaders or heavy equipment in construction, utility, or industrial environments preferred
  • Ability to safely operate equipment around underground utilities and active job sites
  • Working knowledge of construction site safety practices
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, climb, walk uneven terrain, and perform physical labor as needed
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Valid driver's license required
  • CDL preferred but not required
  • Utility construction experience
  • Civil construction or underground utility experience
  • Experience operating loaders, excavators, skid steers, or graders
  • OSHA certification is a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
