Job description

Overview

This is an entry-level position responsible for loading out bulk finished product, mixing system operation, pellet mill operation, maintenance of associated parts/equipment, and providing back-up support to other roles.  This position is also responsible for the cleanliness of the general plant area.

Responsibilities
  • Operate various pieces of equipment including but not limited to forklifts, rollers, grinders, mixing, and batching equipment.
  • Perform functions associated with the mixing, batching, and pelleting processes.
  • Functionally cross-trained in other support roles.
  • Organize the bulk order loads with the appropriate truck driver for loading.
  • Clear documentation of load out records to maintain traceability
  • Visual quality inspection of finished product being shipped, and elevate to appropriate manager/supervisor when results are inconsistent.
  • Run the batching and mixing software programs.
  • Clear documentation of batch records to maintain traceability.
  • Follow the correct sequencing and batching protocols.
  • Control regulation of steam onto the product.
    • Understand the effect of steam on the pelleting procedure.
  • Distinguish different pellet die sizes and install into appropriate machine.
  • Understand/distinguish pellet quality and elevate to appropriate manager/supervisor when results are inconsistent.
  • Change the pellet die to a variety of different plates with assistance.Set pellet rolls pursuant to written policy/procedure.
  • Monitor electrical equipment for amp-load to maintain a consistent pellet quality.
  • Unload bulk truck deliveries in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor assigned plant operations (e.g. controls for roller, grinder, mixer, etc).
  • Perform routine maintenance of all equipment associated with the mixing, batching, and pelleting processes.
  • Perform general clean-up inside/outside load out area, pellet mill and finished product area including sweeping, shoveling etc.
  • Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary.
  • Available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a similar production environment preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Basic operating knowledge of augers, belt-driven machinery, elevators, and other equipment used in the production process.

Physical Requirments
  • Frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds.
  • Frequently twist, stoop, bend, climb, push, and/or pull.
  • Frequently reach for objects in performance of the specific essential job tasks.
  • Occasionally lift/move/push/pull objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally perform overhead lifting of objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Vision sufficient to safely perform the specific essential jobs tasks outlined.
  • Perform repetitive tasks (e.g. grasping objects, fine manipulation, push/pull, assemble objects, etc) with both hands.
