Job description

Job Type: Full-Time / Contract

Job Overview: 4P Consulting, is seeking an experienced Startup Engineer to join the team at the Cherokee LNG Plant. This role is critical to ensuring the successful startup and commissioning of the liquefaction natural gas plant. The ideal candidate will have 5-9 years of engineering experience, particularly in plant startup, commissioning, and maintenance, or a 4-year degree in engineering or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Abide by all safety rules and contribute to a culture focused on safety.
  • Assist in planning the sequence and scheduling of startup activities to meet budget and timeline requirements.
  • Perform project startup and commissioning activities under the direction of the Site Startup Manager.
  • Develop and manage startup budgets and schedules.
  • Accurately document startup and commissioning results, including the development of punch lists.
  • Develop and support the implementation of owner startup procedures.
  • Ensure quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Identify and address installation issues, collaborate with craft, contractors, or vendors to resolve problems according to approved plans.
  • Prepare and manage Startup Turnover Packages.

Skill Set & Expertise:

  • Self-starter with proactive problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with employees at all levels of management.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental standards.
  • Familiarity with fossil power plants, major equipment/systems design, and operation.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations for pressurized piping and vessels.
  • Understanding of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, operations manuals, and P6 schedules.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with plant staff, engineering/design teams, and vendors.
  • Time management and multitasking capabilities.
  • Ability to plan and organize startup activities within a team-oriented environment.
  • Capacity to identify opportunities for organizational improvements and process enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • 5-9 years of related experience in engineering design, LNG Plant startup, or maintenance.
  • Or a 4-year degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Adequate knowledge and hands-on experience with startup procedures and commissioning activities.
