Job description

Ensuring Chart's Success...

Chart Industries is seeking an independent, results-oriented and self-motivated Engineer excited to provide engineering and technical service support for our LNG & H2 Vehicle Fuel System products.  This is an onsite role as these products are  manufactured at the Chart Ball Ground facility.

What Will You Do?
  1. Responsible for product design, documentation and support for LNG & H2 vehicle fuel systems.
  2. Responsible for product structures, bills of material and manufacturing drawings.
  3. Initiates and manages changes via the Engineering Change Request process.
  4. Make necessary changes in design and/or drawings utilizing 3D CAD software. 
  5. Provide technical information and specifications for components, assemblies and final products.
  6. Follow a 5-phase release process for new product introduction (ie: APQP).
  7. Support interdepartmental teams to evaluate manufacturability of products, improve production efficiency, assess tooling requirements, and estimating labor/material.
  8. Provide direct manufacturing support to resolve production problems.
  9. Provide support and engineering documentation for technical inquiries from customers.
  10. Define and communicate product /component specifications to suppliers for new products or special customer projects.
  11. Work with interdepartmental teams to ensure continuous compliance to ISO 9001, TS 16949 and IATF 16949 standards.
  12. Involvement in relevant standards organizations (ISO, NFPA, SAE etc.)
  13. Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
  14. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require...

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Frequent standing, sitting and walking,
  2. Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
  3. Frequent computer work.
  4. Hands on to include working on different types of trucks

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Working Conditions:

  1. Production factory support and office environment.
  2. Work related travel may be required (2 to 4 times per year).
  3. Possible travel to customer sites to gather data or work on various projects

Work Hazards:

  1. Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.
  2. Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320 F).
Your Experience Should Be...
  • BS degree required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ideal candidate has experience in the heavy truck or automotive industry as an OEM supplier or OEM manufacturer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  2. Highly motivated self-starter and a team player.
  3. Customer service orientation.
  4. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  5. Proven experience with 3D modeling and design utilizing AutoCAD/Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
  6. Exposure to JD Edwards or similar manufacturing software.
  7. Basic Understanding of Cryogenic Liquids and their properties a plus.
  8. Understanding of heat transfer and vacuum insulation.
  9. Heavy truck, automotive or diesel engine experience as related to fuel delivery and electrical systems a plus.
  10. Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, etc a plus.
  11. Experience with FEA a plus
