Senior Irrigation Technician


Location: Inver Grove Heights, MN

River Heights Outdoor Solutions, one of the premier landscape companies in the Twin Cities, is looking for an experienced Senior Irrigation Technician to lead complex irrigation service and repair work and help raise the bar for our irrigation division.


As a Senior Irrigation Technician, you're a direct extension of the RHOS brand in the field and a resource other technicians look to for guidance. You'll take on the most complex troubleshooting and repair work, build trust with clients through reliable service, and help mentor less experienced technicians along the way. If you know irrigation systems inside and out and want more ownership over your work, we want to hear from you.


What You'll Do

  • Lead irrigation system maintenance and repair on complex or high-priority jobs, including locating isolation valves, replacing and adjusting irrigation heads, and programming irrigation schedules
  • Diagnose and resolve advanced system issues water coverage problems, electrical/hydraulic faults, and system inefficiencies with minimal supervision
  • Evaluate and document system start-ups, winterization, and overall irrigation performance in LMN
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced irrigation technicians
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area, truck, and trailer
  • Communicate proactively with your Division Manager and RHOS staff to uphold quality and job performance
  • Monitor service schedules and notify your Division Manager of delays or quality concerns so clients are never surprised
  • Estimate service costs and support the Sales team in growing the irrigation division
  • Complete daily administrative tasks, including project status and time entry in LMN, and DOT pre-trip inspections
  • Support seasonal snow and ice removal operations as needed, including plowing, shoveling, and salt application


What You Bring

  • 4+ years of experience in landscape water management/irrigation operations
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex irrigation issues independently
  • Experience mentoring or informally guiding less experienced technicians a plus
  • Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record required
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and spending your workday in the field walking, standing, kneeling, and bending
  • Ready to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
