Live Video Production information

What is live video production?

Live video production is the process of capturing, mixing, and broadcasting video content in real-time, often for events such as concerts, sports, conferences, or online streams. It involves the use of cameras, audio equipment, switchers, and streaming technology to create a seamless live viewing experience for audiences. Live video producers coordinate multiple technical and creative elements to ensure the broadcast runs smoothly and professionally. This field requires technical expertise, quick decision-making, and strong teamwork skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in live video production?

To thrive in Live Video Production, you need expertise in video editing, camera operation, live streaming, and a solid understanding of broadcast standards, often supported by a degree in media production or related field. Familiarity with live production switchers, streaming platforms, audio mixers, and software like OBS or Wirecast is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and the ability to stay calm under pressure set outstanding professionals apart. These skills are crucial for delivering seamless, high-quality live events where timing, technical reliability, and collaboration directly impact the viewer experience.

What are some common challenges faced in live video production, and how can they be managed effectively?

Live video production professionals often encounter challenges such as technical glitches, last-minute script changes, and the need to coordinate seamlessly with multiple team members under tight deadlines. Effective communication, thorough pre-production planning, and regular equipment checks can help minimize disruptions. Additionally, being adaptable and having contingency plans for potential issues—like backup audio or video feeds—are essential for maintaining a smooth workflow during live broadcasts.

Job description

The Social Strategist is one role with two integrated responsibilities: shaping our social strategy and producing our flagship podcast content.
You'll be our eyes on what's moving across the culture and the platforms-watching trends, reading the data, and recommending where we lean in, where we pivot, and where we plant a flag. The skill we care about most is the ability to take what's trending in the broader conversation and connect it cleanly to biblical topics, principles, and teaching, so our content meets people exactly where the cultural moment is.
You'll also own the end-to-end production of The Mark Driscoll Show and Pastor Landon Chase's content-from planning through publishing-making sure every episode is sharp, on-brand, and built to travel across platforms. Strategy and production live in the same seat by design: the person reading the trends is the same person turning them into content.
Additionally, you'll be responsible for working with the Social Media Manager to coordinate the deployment of all captured content-from sermons to podcasts-to multiply viewership through multimedia distribution via reels, midform Youtube videos, and more.
What You'll Do
Social Strategy & Trend Analysis
  • Monitor trends, conversations, and cultural moments across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook, and identify what's worth our voice.
  • Translate trending topics into biblically grounded content angles-connecting the cultural moment to Scripture, theology, and practical discipleship without watering down the message.
  • Analyze performance data (reach, retention, engagement, growth) and turn it into clear, actionable recommendations on format, cadence, topics, and platform strategy.
  • Spot emerging platforms, formats, and distribution shifts early, and tell us how to move before everyone else does.
  • Build and maintain a recurring content/trend brief that informs the show calendar and the broader content team.
  • Partner with the editing and design teams to make sure short-form clips and reels are pulled from the right moments and packaged to perform.

Podcast Production - The Mark Driscoll Show & Landon Chase Content
  • Own production of both shows from concept through publish: planning, episode topics and outlines, run-of-show, recording logistics, and post-production hand-off.
  • Develop episode topics that align with the content calendar and capitalize on trending discussions.
  • Coordinate recording sessions-talent prep, scheduling, studio/room readiness, and AVL setup-so every taping runs smoothly.
  • Manage the post-production pipeline (editing, show notes, titles, thumbnails, chapters, captions) and keep a consistent publishing cadence.
  • Optimize each episode for discovery and distribution across podcast platforms, YouTube, and short-form social.
  • Track episode performance and feed those learnings back into topic selection and format decisions.

What You Bring
  • Proven experience in social media strategy and/or podcast/video production-ideally both.
  • A genuine instinct for what's trending and why, plus the discernment to know what's worth engaging and what isn't.
  • The ability to take a cultural topic and tie it to biblical truth in a way that's faithful, clear, and compelling.
  • Strong working knowledge of the major social platforms and how content actually performs on each.
  • Comfort with analytics tools and turning numbers into decisions.
  • Hands-on familiarity with podcast/video production workflows and tools (recording, editing, publishing). Knowledge of AVL setups is a plus.
  • Sharp written and verbal communication, strong project management, and the ability to juggle multiple shows and deadlines without dropping the ball.

Preferred / Bonus
  • Experience producing for a personality-driven or talent-led show.
  • Short-form video editing or direction.
  • Familiarity with podcast SEO, thumbnails, and title/packaging strategy.
  • A track record of growing an audience or channel.

Who You Are
You love the Word of God and you love getting it in front of people. You're a mature, committed Christian who affirms RealFaith's statement of faith and is genuinely on board with our mission of bold, unapologetic Bible teaching. You're comfortable working in a ministry that confronts the culture rather than accommodates it. You take ownership, move fast, and care about excellence because the message deserves it.
