Podcast Video Editing information

What is podcast video editing?

Podcast video editing is the process of refining and enhancing the video recordings of podcast episodes. This involves cutting unnecessary segments, syncing audio and video, adding graphics or captions, improving visual and sound quality, and sometimes formatting the video for different platforms like YouTube or social media. A podcast video editor ensures the final product is professional, engaging, and accessible to viewers. The goal is to create a polished video that complements the podcast’s audio content and enhances the audience’s viewing experience.

What are some common challenges faced by podcast video editors, and how can they effectively overcome them?

Podcast video editors often encounter challenges such as syncing audio with video, removing distractions or background noise, and ensuring visual consistency across episodes. Effective editors manage these issues by using professional editing software, maintaining organized files, and establishing a clear workflow with the podcast host or production team. Regular communication with content creators and staying updated on editing trends can also help editors deliver high-quality, engaging episodes on schedule.

You'llbe our eyes onwhat'smoving across the culture and the platforms-watching trends, reading the data, and recommending where we lean in, where we pivot, and where we plant a flag. The skill we care about most is the ability to take what's trending in the broader conversation and connect it cleanly to biblical topics, principles, and teaching, so our content meets people exactly where the cultural moment is.

You'llalso own the end-to-end production ofThe Mark Driscoll ShowandPastor Landon Chase's content-from planning through publishing-making sure every episode is sharp, on-brand, and built to travel across platforms. Strategy and production live in the same seat by design: the person reading the trends is the same person turning them into content.

Additionally, you'llbe responsible forworking with the Social Media Manager to coordinate the deployment ofall captured content-from sermons to podcasts-to multiply viewership through multimedia distribution via reels, midformYoutubevideos, and more.

What You'll Do

Social Strategy & Trend Analysis

  • Translate trending topics into biblically grounded content angles-connecting the cultural moment to Scripture, theology, and practical discipleship without watering down the message.
  • Analyze performance data (reach, retention, engagement, growth) and turn it into clear, actionable recommendations on format, cadence, topics, and platform strategy.
  • Spot emerging platforms, formats, and distributionshiftsearly, and tell us how to move before everyone else does.
  • Build andmaintaina recurring content/trend brief that informs the show calendar and the broader content team.
  • Partner with the editing and design teams to make sure short-form clips and reels are pulled from the right moments and packaged to perform.

Podcast Production - The Mark Driscoll Show & Landon Chase Content

  • Own production of both shows from concept throughpublish:planning, episode topics and outlines, run-of-show, recordinglogistics, and post-production hand-off.
  • Develop episode topics that align with the content calendar and capitalize on trending discussions.
  • Coordinate recording sessions-talent prep, scheduling, studio/room readiness, and AVL setup-so every taping runs smoothly.
  • Manage the post-production pipeline (editing, show notes, titles, thumbnails, chapters, captions) and keepa consistentpublishing cadence.
  • Optimizeeach episode for discovery and distribution across podcast platforms, YouTube, and short-formsocial.
  • Track episode performance and feed those learnings back into topicselectionand format decisions.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in social media strategy and/or podcast/video production-ideally both.
  • A genuine instinct for what's trending and why, plus the discernment to knowwhat'sworth engaging and whatisn't.
