Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department requiring an active RN license (AL or compact) and prior Level I/II ER or ICU experience.

Details
  • 71-bed Emergency Department at a Level I Trauma facility
  • Treats multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatric, and psychiatric patients
  • Receives transfer patients from other facilities
  • Patient ratios of 1:4 in the ER, 1:5 for medical-surgical holds, and 1:3 for ICU holds
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
  • 12-hour night shifts (48 hours per week) with shift options of 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, or 3p-3a
  • 4-week schedule cycle with weekend rotation of every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month on block schedule
  • No floating required
  • No on-call requirements
Requirements
  • Active RN license (AL or compact) required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, Secure/CPI, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
  • First-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of Cerner or Epic experience and Level I or II Trauma experience, or 3+ years of Level III Trauma experience at a 300+ bed facility
  • Experienced travelers require at least 2 years of critical care experience (ICU or ER) with the most recent year in a Level I or II ER
  • Cerner or Epic experience preferred
  • Skilled in trach care, vent care, ICU drip management, chest tube, art line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley, splint/ortho device application, BiPAP/HiFlow, and continuous bladder irrigation
Additional Information
  • Unit supported by CNAs at a 1:12 ratio, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy coverage until 0300, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist coverage
  • New-to-facility or returning travelers (gone 1+ year) receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours on-unit training
  • Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
  • Time off requests can be approved for up to 7 days, excluding facility blackout dates
  • Blackout dates apply around major holidays and events including MLK Day, Valentine's week, all of March, Easter weekend, Mother's Day weekend, Memorial Day week, Father's Day weekend, July 4th, Labor Day weekend, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Christmas/New Year period
  • Scrubs must be any solid color
  • Parking available in a parking garage
  • Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
