Job description

Full-Time Male Caregiver / Teacher for Teen with Autism (Weston, CT → Aspen, Colorado)
While this role is not central to the operations of HealthyBaby, it is key to its ongoing success!
We are a family of four living in Weston, CT, with a 15-year-old son with autism, a 9-year-old daughter, and two dogs. We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and compassionate male caregiver/teacher to support our family - primarily our son - as we prepare to relocate to Colorado in spring/summer 2026.
Our preference is for someone already based in Colorado who is open to spending several months in Weston, CT, before the move, but we are open to strong candidates elsewhere who are willing to relocate.
About the Role
We're seeking someone who is not only a dependable caregiver, but also a motivating teacher and companion - someone who will foster growth, independence, and fun for our son while being part of a warm, close-knit household.
You'll work collaboratively with the family and our team of therapists to ensure consistency and positive progress across home and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote independence, social interaction, and cognitive development.
  • Support daily routines and community participation (e.g., sports, hiking, YMCA visits, local outings).
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages participation and self-expression.
  • Monitor safety and well-being at all times, especially in new or busy environments.
  • Adapt activities to match our son's interests, sensory needs, and energy levels.
  • Encourage communication, connection, and confidence through positive reinforcement.
  • Communicate openly and regularly with parents about progress, challenges, and observations.

Qualifications
  • College degree (required); advanced degree or coursework in OT, PT, Speech, Behavioral Science, or Education preferred.
  • 2-4+ years of experience supporting children or young adults with autism or developmental differences.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum profiles and behavioral or sensory strategies.
  • High energy, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for outdoor and active play.
  • Creative and resourceful in designing activities and problem-solving on the go.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, patient, and compassionate under pressure.
  • Openness to holistic and integrative approaches - we value flexibility and curiosity.

Additional Details
  • Some light housekeeping, tidying, and occasional meal preparation (1-2x per week).
  • Willingness to assist with planning and coordinating activities.
  • Flexibility for occasional overnights, weekends, travel, and schedule changes.
  • Live-in arrangement is available for the right candidate.
  • Full-time schedule (40-45 hrs/week) with adjustments for school breaks, holidays, and travel.
  • Part-time considered for exceptional candidates.

Compensation
  • Salary: $90,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits and relocation support discussed upon offer.
