Job description

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT), named “Zweig Group’s “Best Firms to Work For”, is seeking a motivated Project Manager - Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Bloomington, IL Springfield, IL or Springfield, MO. This role involves providing civil engineering design services to a diverse range of clients throughout central Illinois. Projects will vary but will focus on civil-related work, including commercial, residential, governmental, educational, and industrial site development.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with other engineers, architects, and project managers in planning, design, construction, coordination, and execution of complex projects while maintaining conformance with engineering standards, established practices, and applicable codes.
  • Master planning, terrain modeling and earthwork analysis, site utility conveyance and permitting, pavement design, hydrologic & hydraulic analysis and design, stormwater detention and water quality design, stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), pavement marking, and signing plans.
  • Complete preparation of construction drawings and technical specifications for roadway and site development projects.
  • The ability to directly interface with clients and project stakeholders in a manner that is both professional and that furthers business development.
  • Strong organizational & communication skills related to design, report writing, field investigations, cost estimating, construction observation, and attendance at client meetings.

Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering practice
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Certification
  • Strong technical skills to include experience with Microsoft Office products with exposure to computer-aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple competing deadlines
  • Ability to accept periodic out-of-town travel assignments and work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work in the field as needed
  • Valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record
  • A Professional Engineer’s License in IL or MO

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous experience in site development and drainage
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D and various hydraulic modeling software such as Storm and Sanitary Analysis or Pond Pack.
