Job description

Theย Beta Omicron chapter of Tri Delta at Illinois State Universityย is actively looking for a part-time, live-in House Director who will provide on-site property & vendor management while fostering a sense of belonging for both members and staffย in order toย create a premier living experience for Tri Delta's collegiate members.ย ย 

House Directors help turn houses into Tri Delta homes.ย The ideal candidate will combine their professionalism with aย problem-solvingย attitude and their dedication to forming relationships. The role willย be responsible forย ensuring the safe operations of the property; managing dining operations; communicating regularly with vendors, local stakeholders, and the national staff; and creating a safe, welcoming environment for Tri Delta's collegiate members.ย ย 

The role will begin inย July 2026.ย

House Details:ย

Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:ย ย 

  • Property Managementย 
    • Live-in and reside overnight at the Tri Delta chapter house.ย 
    • Manage the daily operations of the house and provide weekly reports to supervisor, chapter leadership and volunteers.ย ย 
    • Report violations of chapter house rules and policies to chapter officers and advisors. ย The house director is not expected nor permitted to discipline chapter members.ย 
    • Properly maintain the chapter house over time. ย Recommend capital improvements as needed throughout the year.ย 
    • Prepare the chapter house for opening and closing, to include coordination of move-in and move-out and scheduling cleaning and routine maintenance.ย 
    • Oversee the operation of dining services, including menu preparation, purchasing, and special events.ย 
    • Oversee the operation of facility cleaning, which may include scheduling for daily, weekly, deep cleaning, special event(s), and additional cleanings and supply purchasingย 
    • Perform daily walk of the entire chapter house, including both the interior and exterior of the property to review for any safety or maintenance related needs.ย 
  • Employee Supervisionย 
    • Recruit, hire, train, schedule and supervise chapter house employees and ensure the accuracy of employeesโ€™ payroll.ย 
  • Safety/Healthย 
    • Work to develop and maintain a safety-conscious working and living environment with employeesย and chapter members.ย ย 
    • Ensure that all life-safety equipment is well-maintained and in good working order. Schedule life safety inspections as requested and required in conjunction with Facility Support.ย 
    • Promptly report to Regional Property Manager and Facility Support any problems with fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, alarm system or any other security or safety risk, including fire hazards.ย ย 
    • Understand the Organization's protocol for responding to critical incidents and promptly report them to Executive Office staff.ย ย 
    • Assist Regional Property Manager and Facility Support staff with maintaining property records and complete all assigned paperwork in a timely manner.ย 
  • Collaboration/Communicationย 
    • Establish and maintain vendor relationships.
    • In collaboration with the chapter and advisors, establish kitchen and dining operations policies and procedures.ย 
    • Schedule regular meetings with Director of Facility Operations (DFACO), Operations Advisors (OAs), and other officers and advisors as requested/neededย 
    • Meet with Facility Committee as requestedย 
  • Administrative Responsibilitiesย 
    • Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance requests.ย 
    • Follow expense approval and reporting processes.ย  Reconcile and report all expenditures.ย 
  • Housing Teamย 
    • Attend Tri Deltaโ€™s Annual House Director Conference and actively attend and participate in Tri Delta staff meetings and trainings throughout the year.ย 
    • Offer logistical support for chapter priorities, programs, and initiatives.ย 
    • Follow all Tri Delta and chapter policies, proceduresย and guidelines.ย 

Required qualifications include:

  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, web-based applications, and general computer skills.
  • Ability to speak and read English.
  • Meet specified physical requirements of lifting no more than 35 lbs., standing, walking, and climbing stairs multiple times daily.
  • May work extended hours and/or non-traditional hours (i.e. able to respond to emergencies 24/7)
  • Ability to use proper discretion and independent judgment in carrying out the primary roles and responsibilities of the position.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with staff supervision and property management
