Job description

Description About Telestream

Telestream is a leading provider of digital media tools and software solutions for the broadcast, streaming, and media industries. We empower content creators and distributors to produce and deliver high-quality video content while optimizing operations and maximizing revenue. Our teams work diligently to innovate and support world-class services, and we are looking for a Software Developer to join our Engineering team.

Location: US Hybrid (Beaverton, OR/Hybrid)

In-Office Requirement: Weekly on Tuesdays & Thursdays
Work Authorization - Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This role is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization or visa sponsorship of any kind, now or in the future.

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Software Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to join our talented development team. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to work on high-performance media applications that serve professionals across the broadcast and video technology industries. The ideal candidate brings solid experience in C++ and a willingness to learn Go and expand their understanding of audio/video systems. You will play a key role in building and maintaining backend services that drive our core media products. This includes services that capture and analyze live professional video and audio streams directly off the network in real time. Our software is widely used in the broadcast and video industries, powering workflows that demand precision, performance, and reliability. We offer a collaborative and technically rich environment where you’ll have the opportunity to grow your expertise in systems programming, media processing, and distributed architectures.

What You Will Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend components, primarily using C++, with contributions in Go
  • Build and extend a real-time system for processing and analyzing live audio, video, and ancillary data (e.g., captions, timecode) carried over the network
  • Work on problems where correctness under concurrency and timing constraints genuinely matters, not just general application logic
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and QA to implement new product features and enhance existing functionality
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and Agile development workflows
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code in a Linux-based environment
Requirements What You Bring
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in software development
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++, including solid multithreading and memory management fundamentals
  • Comfort reasoning about performance- and timing-sensitive code, not just general application logic
  • Interest in learning and contributing to Go-based services
  • Solid grasp of software design principles and debugging techniques
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment
Bonus Points For
  • Experience or interest in audio/video technologies such as encoding, playback, streaming, or ancillary data (e.g., closed captioning, timecode)
  • Exposure to real-time or embedded systems programming, or low-level network protocol work
  • Familiarity with microservice architecture and gRPC
  • Experience with message-queue-based architectures (e.g., RabbitMQ/AMQP)
  • Comfortable working in a CI/CD environment with tools like Jenkins and Bitbucket
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, k3s)
  • Awareness of modern frontend/backend integration patterns (e.g., REST or gRPC APIs with React.js frontends)
Benefits Perks That Power Your Life
  • Day-one medical, dental & vision coverage
  • 100% company-paid life + disability insurance
  • 401(k) with a sweet company match (up to 8%)
  • Quarterly HSA boosts & flexible spending accounts
  • Flexible time off (salaried) or PTO (hourly) + generous paid holidays
  • Pet insurance (yes, your dog gets benefits too)
  • Legal plan + extras like accident & critical illness coverage

Telestream is committed to a fair and transparent hiring process. We do not use artificial intelligence (AI) to screen, evaluate, or make selection decisions about applicants. All applications are reviewed by our recruiting team and hiring managers to ensure each candidate receives thoughtful, human consideration based on their qualifications and experience.
