Job description

Job Summary

The primary role of the Security Guard position is to maintain a safe and secure environment for Homefull, Gettysburg Grocery, building tenants, facilities, staff, clients, and visitors. This includes monitoring premises, enforcing policies, responding to incidents, and coordinating with Homefull/GGs leadership and emergency services when needed. This person will work as part of a team to support safety efforts, primarily at the Gettysburg Grocery location (and/or other programs & locations when needed and assigned), to ensure that all Homefull facilities remain secure and welcoming.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

The Security Guard will be responsible for:

ยท Monitoring and patrolling assigned facilities and grounds to ensure safety and security;
ยท Controlling access to buildings by verifying identification and managing visitor logs as needed;
ยท Responding promptly to incidents, emergencies, and disturbances, utilizing de-escalation techniques;
ยท Writing clear, accurate, and timely incident reports and daily activity logs;
ยท Enforcing Homefull policies, procedures, and safety protocols consistently and professionally;
ยท Conducting routine inspections of doors, windows, and common areas to ensure they are secure;
ยท Identifying and reporting safety hazards, suspicious activities, or maintenance concerns to Supervisor;
ยท Assisting in emergency situations, including evacuations, medical incidents, or crisis response;
ยท Coordinating with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency responders when necessary;
ยท Supporting staff in maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all clients and visitors;

ยท Interacting positively with customers and clients (depending on location), treating all with dignity and respect, being personable and showing excellent customer service, contributing to a welcoming environment for all clients and visitors;

ยท Monitoring security systems such as cameras, alarms, and access control systems (if applicable);

Other Duties
ยท Be willing to assist with emergency situations as needed, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays;
ยท Adhere to fair housing standards, local codes, and Homefull P
ยท Represent Homefull in a professional & positive manner;
ยท Work collaboratively and effectively with other staff, clients, external partners, and contractors;
ยท Abide by confidentiality and treat all with dignity & respect;
ยท Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients at all times;
ยท Complete other tasks as assigned by Homefull Supervisor/Administration (not by clients, partners, or other parties).

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prior security experience preferred.

Valid driver license and reliable transportation required.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in crisis situations. Strong observation and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Basic computer skills required for reporting and communication.

Physical abilities include being able to stand for long periods of time, being able to lift/squat/reach, being comfortable walking and running if needed, quick reaction/response, and ability to engage in physical intervention (consistent with training) if needed.
