Job description

At Dollywood Parks & Resorts, we create memories worth repeating. We do this every day across Dollywood Resorts which includes over 600 rooms and 15 Food & Beverage outlets, all located in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Our plan is to grow our resort footprint to over 1200 rooms across five resorts at Dollywood and to add other resorts to our overall company resort portfolio.

We are seeking a Laundry Attendant who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while caring deeply about our brand and our region.

We want to work alongside someone who acts as an extension of our mission, values, and culture. This person is driven to create meaningful experiences for our hosts, guests, and community while simultaneously ensuring the success and profitability of our unique culinary offerings. This person also brings a spirit of fun, authenticity, collaboration, creativity and genuine hospitality to their life and work. We are seeking an individual who has the ability to bring the vision of the Dollywood Resorts to life. The recipe for the right Laundry Attendant will be equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, mentor and motivator.

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the cleaning process of hotel linens to ensure guests and hosts experience a clean hotel. This is to be done all in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and operating philosophies of The Dollywood Company.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.

Summary of Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Safely operates commercial washers, dryers and folding machines. This includes loading and unloading of all machines
  • Measures and administers cleaning agents to laundry according to product specifications
  • Monitors feeder information on washers, make sure all drums are full, and report any irregularities to immediate supervisor. Sets the proper drying and cooling times for different types of linen
  • Operates the folders and other laundry equipment in accordance with the product specifications
  • Cleans up machines and surrounding areas as necessary per shift
  • Complies with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Operates laundering equipment to safely and thoroughly clean and press linen, keeping work area clean and safe
  • Helps ensure laundry operations run smoothly by alerting the supervisor when equipment stops working properly
  • Understands how to program and operate the ironer
  • Ability to program dryers and washers according to the product load in cycle
  • Sorts out all linen that needs to be done
  • Completes other duties as assigned
  • Cleans all lint traps in dryers at least 2 times per shift
  • Pushes and pulls linen carts that are full of linen
  • Participates in monthly linen inventory
  • Counts and stocks linen shelves
  • Must be able to function in a team atmosphere

Education and Experience Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six to 12 months previous commercial laundry experience preferred
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen

  • Able to stand continuously while moving, able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull repeatedly
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be willing to work extra hours/shifts to ensure customer needs are consistently met
  • Able to wear all PPE as required
  • Able to sit and/or stand for long/short periods
  • Must be able to push carts weighing up to as much as 400 lbs throughout the shift
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch on a regular basis
  • Must be able to stand in workstation for up to 7 hrs per shift
  • Must be able to drive to various areas of the hotel to pick-up/deliver linen items in allotted time provided

    Physical and Cognitive Requirements

    • Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting
    • Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
    • Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
    • Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
    • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved methods
