Job description

As a Stage Manager, you'll support the successful production of events across ACL Live's transformative venues, home to PBS's iconic Austin City Limits and the city's most memorable music moments. You'll coordinate technical production equipment and staff needs in collaboration with touring artists and clients to create world-class experiences at the 2,750-person Moody Theater and the 350-person intimate club, 3TEN. As the ideal candidate, you'll take pride in advancing shows and events to meet standards that ensure exceptional performances and connect artists and fans through unforgettable shows that are as undeniably cool as Austin itself. Reports to Manager of Production at ACL Live.
  • Collaborate with artist teams and event clients on schedule and technical requirements to advance shows and events. Maintain responsibility for all aspects of the event throughout the show.
  • Ensure excellent service and professional communication while coordinating site visits, day-of-show schedules and technical requirements with internal and external partners.
  • Provide onsite production supervision during assigned events. Manage day-of-show timeline, including load-in, rehearsals, performances, and load-out.
  • Communicate equipment needs with artists and bands. Plan events within defined production and labor budgets.
  • Source equipment and services within budget and contractual agreements. Coordinate backline, audio, lighting, video, set pieces, and any additional production elements.
  • Track production expenses throughout event lifecycle, compile final reports with documentation and complete settlements, ensuring all expenses are included for billing.
  • Identify, respond to, and mitigate advancement issues. Proactively address issues that could impact event success or safety.
  • Coordinate downtown parking conditions, truck parking, and loading/unloading operations. Ensure efficient movement of production equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is used safely per industry standards from load-in through load-out. Maintain safe and secure environment for artists, clients, employees, etc. and follow all codes, laws, regulations, and emergency procedures.
  • Communicate and uphold all corporate standards, guidelines, policies and procedures in accordance with regulations. Maintain personal integrity, uphold company values, and adhere to established SOPs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience
  • 4+ years experience in show production, lighting, audio or stage training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills

  • Passion for the entertainment business and compassion for people
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and long, irregular hours to support business
    needs
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Licenses / Certifications
  • OSHA Forklift & Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certification preferred
  • Must complete OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification within 120 days of hire
  • May require driving company vehicles; valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record required

Physical Requirements
Speak and hear to communicate effectively and use both near and distance vision. Stand and walk continuously and frequently climb and descend stairs and uneven terrain. Frequently sit, kneel, bend, and reach to move goods. Regularly lift and carry up to and exceeding 50 lbs. Manual dexterity for tasks such as using a computer. Learn and operate a forklift and other equipment.
Working Conditions
Entertainment environments, indoors and outdoors, with large crowds and elevated noise levels.
This position requires a pre-employment drug screening (4-panel: phencyclidine, cocaine, amphetamines, and opiates).
