Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Parking Assistant/Manager supports the daily operations and administration of parking management
efforts and needs on campus. They will work closely with the Executive Director/Chief of Police as well as
other members of the Public Safety team to develop and manage strategic plans and initiatives for the
department in areas including Parking and Transportation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Responsible for the management of Babson and Olin College Parking Management needs including permit registration and distribution, maintenance of equipment and service support, organization of the parking appeal board, parking appeals and billing, processing revocation letters, and management of parking related communications and requests, including medical passes, carpool passes, parking management for visitors and non-affiliated parking management such as town related parking needs.
  • Responsible for the collection of parking data for strategic planning and budgeting purposes.
  • Helps prepare and present parking-related agenda items to internal and external departments, including collaboration with Facilities to address parking signage issues and requests.
  • Learns and maintains databases and systems related to parking management (T2 Parking Management System).
  • Supervises all parking and transportation technical support including assistance with maintaining records, updating procedures, managing inventories of supplies, and scheduling maintenance of T2 Parking software and equipment.
  • Works closely with T2 system support and ITSD as needed to address system issues. Assists with supporting administrative efforts with other means of transportation on campus including electric spaces and Zipcars.
  • Develops and implements programs for the daily function of parking management.
  • Recommends parking policies, rates and programs to leadership.
  • Responds to customer inquiries and/or complaints, both written and oral; provides highly skilled conflict resolution and direction.
  • Assists with all billing efforts regarding parking management (permits, citations, vehicle tows).
  • Assists with the development and implementation of comprehensive campus marketing and promotional strategies for the Parking department including management of the website.
  • Works with direct leadership to implement the strategic direction of the expansion of Parking including on-campus usage, new revenue streams, and developing new marketing and communication plans as well as focusing on elevating technology.
  • Assists with research and development of data driven policies and procedures and keeps up to date with trends in the campus Parking and Transportation industry to ensure that Babson is in line with technology and parking and transportation solutions.
  • Works closely with partners on campus such as Facilities, ITSD, Housing, Events Management, Athletics and Student Financial Services in support of efficient and effective parking management. Assumes additional responsibilities and special projects as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
  • High School diploma and at least 3-5 years of relevant experience or Associate's Degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work with ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse students, staff, and faculty.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills. Strong management and leadership skills. Basic accounting skills.
  • Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
  • Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
  • This is an in-person position scheduled during normal business hours. May be required to respond to various locations on campus for parking related issues. Position may be required to work off hours during certain times of the year. Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management.
    ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE Customer Service experience a plus. Experience in project management preferred. Experience systems such as database management, Remedy Force, MS-Office, Parking Management system, and SharePoint preferred.

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $31.00. This position includes paid sick leave where required by law. Eligibility, accrual, and usage will follow applicable state and local regulations.
