Live In Rota Nanny information

What does a typical rota schedule look like for a Live In Rota Nanny, and how does it impact work-life balance?

A typical rota schedule for a Live In Rota Nanny often involves working intense shifts—such as one or two weeks on followed by an equal period off—where you provide round-the-clock care and support to the children. This structure allows for concentrated periods of work followed by extended time off, helping nannies maintain a good work-life balance and recover between shifts. During your working period, you may collaborate closely with other nannies or household staff, ensuring continuous support and coverage. This setup is ideal for those who prefer longer breaks and the opportunity to focus fully on the children during their working weeks.

What is a Live In Rota Nanny job?

A Live In Rota Nanny is a professional caregiver who works on a rotating schedule, typically alternating with another nanny to provide 24/7 childcare. This schedule could be one or two weeks on, followed by the same time off. The nanny lives with the family during their shift, ensuring consistent care and stability for the children. This role often involves childcare, educational activities, meal preparation, and light housekeeping related to the children. It's a great option for families who need continuous childcare with structured time off for the nanny.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Live In Rota Nanny position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live In Rota Nanny, you need substantial childcare experience, a genuine passion for working with children, and often relevant certifications such as pediatric first aid and DBS/CRB checks. Familiarity with household management systems, communication apps for family coordination, and knowledge of child safety protocols are commonly expected. Outstanding soft skills include adaptability, discretion, excellent communication, and the ability to work seamlessly as part of a team of caregivers. These abilities are crucial for providing consistent, high-quality care within a structured rota schedule while balancing the needs of both children and the household.

Job description

A warm, values-driven family is seeking a full-time nanny/family assistant to join their home and help care for two young children while contributing to the overall rhythm of a well-supported household.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who values community, long-term relationships, and a connected home environment. The family has deep roots in their neighborhood and maintains strong, trusted relationships with extended family and long-standing staff. Kindness, humility, honesty, and mutual respect are core to how the household operates.

The home is pet-forward, with three well-loved dogs, and is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys being around animals and feels comfortable in a lively, welcoming environment.

The role is designed to complement an existing support system, including a full-time weekday nanny and additional household help. The primary need is for weekend support and occasional evenings, as well as flexibility to step in when the parent is traveling.
The schedule will be 5 days a week, two consecutive weekday days off, with guaranteed 40 hours.

Live-in accommodations are available, either within the main home (private entrance and bathroom) or in a separate unit on the property.

The family is seeking someone interested in a long-term role, who can grow with them over time and become a trusted, steady presence in the children’s lives.

  • Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care for two young children (preschool and toddler age).
  • Support weekend and evening routines, including play, meals, and transitions.
  • Engage children in creative, intellectually stimulating activities, including reading, imaginative play, and outings.
  • Foster curiosity through exposure to culture, learning, and new experiences (e.g., museums, activities, community engagement).
  • Assist with meal preparation for the children and occasional light support for family meals.
  • Maintain organization of children’s spaces, including toys, books, and clothing.
  • Collaborate with existing household staff to ensure a smooth, well-run environment.
  • Provide coverage during parent travel, including occasional extended or weekend support.
  • Travel with the family as needed.
  • Offer light household support, including tidying and general organization.

  • Experience caring for young children in a private home setting.
  • Warm, engaging, and emotionally intuitive caregiving style.
  • Strong alignment with values of kindness, respect, and collaborative discipline.
  • Interest in supporting early learning and intellectual development.
  • Comfortable in a team-oriented household environment.
  • Adaptable, easygoing, and able to integrate into an established home.
  • Highly trustworthy, discreet, and professional.
  • Interest in building a long-term relationship with a family.
  • Comfortable in a pet-friendly home.
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Comfortable with a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Open to live-in arrangements.
  • Able to provide strong references and pass a background check.

  • $35–$55 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Live-in accommodations available.
  • Additional benefits to be discussed with the family.
