Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Traveling Industrial Low Voltage Technician in Des Moines, IA. The Traveling Industrial Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of structured cabling systems in heavy commercial and industrial environments. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency with CAT6 and fiber optics, as well as the flexibility to travel 100% within the Midwest region to diverse job sites including cold storage and food production facilities.

Pay: $28 to $30 Per Hour BOE

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • BICSI Certification
  • NEC Certification
  • TIA/EIA Certification
  • Boom or Scissor Lift Certification

Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems including CAT6 and fiber optic networks.
  • Perform multi-mode and single-mode fiber terminations and manage MDF/IDF buildouts.
  • Operate boom and scissor lifts to perform installations at heights exceeding 40 feet.
  • Install and route conduit including 3/4-inch aluminum, Robroy, and stainless steel.
  • Interpret blueprints, site maps, and technical schematics to ensure precise installation according to project specs.
  • Maintain and service industrial CCTV, security, and alarm systems.
  • Document project progress and complete necessary closeout requirements.
  • Adapt to varying work schedules, including frequent weekends and nights, to minimize disruption to live production plants.
  • Perform cable runs and support structure installations in challenging environments like cold storage and high-heat warehouses.

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience as a Low Voltage Technician in industrial or heavy commercial settings.
  • Strong technical background in CAT6 cabling and fiber optic installation and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and navigating complex industrial site maps.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate boom and scissor lifts safely at significant heights.
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time throughout the Midwest region.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including a Friday through Monday schedule.
  • Experience with conduit bending and installation (aluminum, Robroy, and stainless) is highly preferred.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for mobilization to various job sites.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work at heights of 40 feet or more from a lift or ladder.
  • Capacity to work in extreme environments including cold storage, hot warehouses, and live food production plants.
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, and stoop for prolonged periods in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfort working in environments with sensitive smells and loud industrial noise.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $28 to $30 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
