Job description

Founding Mobile Engineer (React Native / iOS)
Onsite - San Francisco (Pac Heights) • Full-time • $180K-$220K + Equity
About the Opportunity
G2i is partnering with a fast-growing, early-stage startup to hire a Founding Mobile Engineer.
This is a rare opportunity to join as the first mobile engineer, working directly with the founders to build and scale a consumer-facing product from the ground up.
You won't be joining a team - you'll be defining it. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in 0→1 environments and wants full ownership over the mobile experience.
What You'll Do
  • Own the mobile app end-to-end - from concept to production
  • Build high-quality, intuitive, and performant user experiences
  • Ship features rapidly and iterate based on real user feedback
  • Collaborate directly with founders on product direction and priorities
  • Optimize performance across animations, rendering, and interactions
  • Debug and resolve issues across the stack when needed
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and improve output quality

What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience building and shipping mobile apps end-to-end (0→1)
  • Strong expertise in React Native (Expo) and TypeScript
  • Experience working with or integrating native iOS modules
  • Deep focus on UI/UX quality, interaction design, and performance
  • Strong product intuition - you think beyond implementation
  • Ability to move fast without compromising quality
  • High ownership mindset - you proactively identify and solve problems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with founders

AI-Native Engineering
We're looking for engineers who are already operating in an AI-native workflow:
  • Actively use tools like Cursor, Claude, or similar in daily development
  • Understand tradeoffs of AI-assisted coding
  • Can clearly articulate when and how to leverage AI effectively
  • Continuously explore ways to increase output and quality using AI

Nice to Have
  • Experience building consumer (B2C) products
  • Strong mobile design intuition and attention to detail
  • Background in high-performance mobile applications
  • Side projects or products you've built independently

Tech Stack
  • React Native (Expo)
  • TypeScript
  • Native iOS modules (Swift)
  • AI tools (Cursor, Claude, custom agents)

Location & Compensation
  • Onsite: San Francisco (Pacific Heights)
  • Work authorization: Open to H1B transfer only (no new sponsorship)
  • Compensation: $180K - $220K base + ~0.5% - 2% equity
    (flexible for exceptional candidates)

Interview Process
  • G2i video screening (4-5 technical questions)
  • 1-hour live coding/build session
  • (Optional) Founder interview (culture & fit)
  • 4-hour onsite build in San Francisco (travel covered if needed)
  • Offer

Timeline
  • Urgency: High (rolling process)
  • Candidate submission deadline: ASAP
  • Target hire date: As soon as the right founding-level candidate is identified
