Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

A Brief Overview
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered.
What you will do
  • Monitor post-operative patients' levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs.
  • Closely observe patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication.
  • Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
  • Update charts, patient files, and medical records.
  • Collaborate with the medical team on post-operative patient care and facilitate timely specialized interventions.
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to distressed post-operative patients and concerned family members.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-surgery care, as well as answering questions.

Education Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing. (ADN) Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. (BSN) Preferred
  • Master's Degree in Nursing. (MSN) Preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • Previous experience in PACU/OPS Preferred
  • Critical Care experience Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers

Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Preferred
  • Registered Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation with South Carolina Board of Nursing
