Job description

A professional family is seeking an experienced, engaging Nanny to care for their 15-month-old daughter. Both parents are surgeons with demanding schedules and are looking for a nanny who can provide dependable coverage while also bringing a thoughtful, developmental approach to their daughter's days.

They are looking for someone who will take the role beyond basic supervision. They want a Nanny who genuinely enjoys being with a young child and will plan activities, encourage learning, get outside, and make the most of the day rather than simply keeping her entertained. Mandarin-speaking ability is a wonderful plus, as Mom speaks Mandarin and would love to continue exposing their daughter to the language.

This position can be live-in or live-out depending on the candidate. The family has additional space available for a live-in nanny.

The family is easygoing about household responsibilities - the nanny will not be expected to take on family assistant duties. The parents have a meal service, handle their own household chores, and will prepare their daughter's food. The nanny's focus should remain on excellent childcare and keeping things tidy as part of the normal care of the child.

Schedule:

  • Two primary days per week, Wednesday and Thursday, approximately 7:00am–6:00pm
  • Third day is a flexible "float" day depending on the family's needs
  • Some weeks may require additional coverage when the parents' schedules change
  • Schedule can be flexible on the remaining day(s)
  • Parents are typically home before 6:00pm, though occasional later coverage may be needed
  • ASAP start for the right candidate
  • Long-term opportunity

  • Providing attentive, engaging care for the family's 15-month-old daughter
  • Planning age-appropriate activities, outings, and experiences
  • Encouraging developmental milestones through play, books, puzzles, music, and other activities
  • Getting outside regularly and keeping the child active and engaged
  • Taking the initiative to plan activities such as trips to the zoo, library, playgrounds, classes, etc.
  • Supporting the child's language development
  • Cleaning up after the child and maintaining her play and living spaces
  • Maintaining the child's daily routine and schedule
  • Communicating with the parents about the child's day, development, and activities

  • Warm, nurturing, patient, and dependable
  • Mandarin-speaking or proficient Mandarin is a strong plus, but not required
  • Someone who views themselves as a career nanny rather than a babysitter

  • Experienced professional nanny with a strong background caring for toddlers
  • Genuine interest in child development and age-appropriate activities
  • Creative, energetic, and engaged
  • Someone who naturally plans activities rather than relying on passive entertainment
  • Proactive and able to take ownership of the child's day
  • Comfortable working with busy professional parents
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules
  • Strong professional references
  • Must be available for the family's two longer days each week
  • Valid driver's license preferred; driving requirements to be discussed based on the candidate and family's vehicle arrangements
  • Must be comfortable around dogs; family has one dog

  • $35–$40/hour DOE
  • Family is flexible on compensation for an exceptional candidate
  • Live-in accommodations available for the right candidate
