Job description

Medication Administration Staff

Pauline and Thomas Healthcare (P&T) is a non-profit organization serving individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. P&T is seeking Medication Administration Staff to support and serve our individuals in leading them to be independent and have an amazing quality of life.

Medication Administration Staff Compensation:

  • Compensation: $20 per hour DOE

Medication Administration Staff Days and Hours:

  • Working Days: Monday โ€“ Sunday (includes holidays)
  • Working Hours: Must be available to administer medications between 7:00am - 8:00pm.

Medication Administration Staff Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications accurately and timely as prescribed by licensed providers.
  • Prepare medications, verify orders, and ensure proper dosage, route, and timing.
  • Maintain accurate medication administration records (MAR) and documentation.
  • Monitor individuals for medication side effects or adverse reactions and report concerns to appropriate licensed staff immediately.
  • Follow all safety protocols, infection control practices, and medication handling guidelines.
  • Assist with medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, labeling, storage, and disposal.
  • Ensure controlled substances procedures are followed in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy practices.
  • Participate in medication audits and compliance reviews as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, supervisors, and other team members.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • I-9 Identification (Social Security Card, Passport, etc.)
  • Must have current Tennessee Department of Aging and Disabilities (DDA) Medication Administration Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Required to walk or stand regularly
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to crawl, kneel, climb, stop and squat
  • Accurately calculate medication dosages
  • Exercise good judgement and remain calm in crisis situations
