What is a Live In Image Annotation job?

A Live In Image Annotation job involves residing at a particular location or facility and performing the task of labeling or tagging objects, features, or data within digital images. This work is usually part of larger projects in fields like artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computer vision, where accurately annotated images are crucial for training algorithms. The job may require familiarity with specialized software tools and a keen attention to detail. Annotators play a critical role in helping computers 'see' and understand images by providing clear and consistent labels. Often, these positions are found in research centers, data collection facilities, or companies specializing in AI development.

What are some of the common challenges faced by Live In Image Annotation professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Live In Image Annotation professionals often encounter challenges such as maintaining high accuracy while working with large volumes of data, meeting tight deadlines, and handling ambiguous images that require careful judgment. To address these challenges, it's important to stay organized, regularly communicate with team members and project managers, and utilize annotation tools efficiently. Ongoing training and feedback can also help improve both speed and precision, ensuring the quality of annotated data meets industry standards.

What is the difference between Live In Image Annotation vs Image Labeling Specialist?

AspectLive In Image AnnotationImage Labeling Specialist
CredentialsBasic computer skills, attention to detailBasic computer skills, attention to detail
Work EnvironmentOn-site or remote, often in a dedicated workspaceRemote or on-site, flexible environment
Industry UsageAI training, autonomous vehicles, surveillanceData annotation for machine learning, AI models
Job FocusReal-time annotation, often involving live video or imagesBatch annotation, static images

Live In Image Annotation involves real-time, often on-site annotation of images or videos, suitable for applications like autonomous driving or surveillance. In contrast, Image Labeling Specialists typically perform batch annotation of static images for training AI models, often remotely. Both roles require attention to detail and basic technical skills but differ mainly in real-time versus batch work and work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Live In Image Annotation Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live In Image Annotation Specialist, you need strong attention to detail, proficiency in visual analysis, and a basic understanding of data labeling processes, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with annotation tools like Labelbox, CVAT, or Supervisely, and sometimes basic coding knowledge, is often required. Excellent communication, time management, and adaptability are key soft skills for collaborating and meeting project deadlines. Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree with at least 6-9 years of relevant experience in histology or a related scientific field. Competence in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and general histology techniques is essential for this role, with experience in additional techniques such as in situ hybridization (ISH) and immunofluorescence (IF) being considered a valuable plus.

Must have: • Expertise in the processing, embedding, and sectioning of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues to ensure superior quality is essential. Familiarity with sectioning frozen OCT-embedded tissues would be considered an additional advantage. • Demonstrated experience in performing immunohistochemistry (IHC) is required, with familiarity in immunofluorescence (IF) and RNAscope assays considered a plus, utilizing both manual techniques and automated systems where applicable. Nice to haves: • Familiarity with mouse tissue handling protocols, including the ability to trim tissues appropriately for downstream processing and embedding (note: this role does not involve work with live animals). • Basic understanding of image analysis methodologies and microscopy techniques, including skills in image acquisition and interpretation for effective assessment of staining quality. • Proficiency in data entry and processing skills, along with a foundational understanding of basic statistical concepts and graphing techniques for data analysis; experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data organization and management is a plus. • Experience with automated immunostainers (e.g., Leica Bond, Ventana) is also desirable. • Interest in and/or understanding of oncology, immune-oncology, and / or immunology. Preferred Qualifications: Prior exposure to quantitative image analysis tools (e.g., ImageJ, Indica Labs HALO, QuPath) and experience with whole slide imaging applications to enhance research capabilities.

Responsibilities:

The In Vivo Pharmacology – Oncology group is seeking a motivated scientist to support the preclinical and clinical development of innovative cancer therapies. Your contributions will directly impact the development of cutting-edge therapies that improve patient outcomes. Responsibilities include:

• Designing, validating, and executing IHC and histology experiments on human and mouse tissue samples to contribute to the advancement of Client therapeutics. • Utilize Indica Labs HALO Link for managing images and processing digital pathology data, including manual data entry, contributing to collaborative research efforts. • Employ Indica Labs HALO AI to conduct quantitative image analysis on assay results, supporting data interpretation and validation efforts, with guidance and training available to enhance your skills in this area. • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to communicate experimental findings and support overarching project objectives effectively. • Independently manage project timelines and execute tissue-based assays to ensure the timely completion of experiments. • Maintain a meticulous electronic lab notebook (ELN) to document all research activities and data management processes and participate in internal training sessions to ensure compliance with Client's best practices.

Candidates must be proactive and adaptable team players who excel in a fast-paced research environment. They should demonstrate the ability to manage their time effectively and work both independently and collaboratively, contributing to the team's success through innovative thinking.
