Job description

Abode, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Night Manager for our program in Alameda County. This position is Part Time, On Call/Relief working up to 16hurs per week.
About The Role: In exchange for reduced rent housing, the Night Manager is responsible for providing the afterhours management presence in coordination with or in the absence of the onsite Property Manager. Ensures common area buildings are secured after-hours. Responds to on-site emergencies during nights and weekends.
Compensation: The duties of the Night Manager shall be compensated through the provision of a reduced rent on-site large one bedroom apartment unit. The reduction of rent will be considered a stipend income for tax purposes. The reduced rent benefit shall be compensation for responding to emergencies on nights and weekends and for approximately 2-10 hours/week worked at the property performing the duties of the Night Manager. You will sign an Employee License Agreement for this apartment, and it will need to be vacated within 7 days of termination of this position. Pay range: $15.65-$17.22 hourly.

How You Make An Impact:
  • Responds to calls on company issued cell phone during after-hours property emergencies in coordination with or in the absence of the Property Manager, as necessary.
  • As assigned or needed, performs light maintenance or janitorial duties such as turning off the water valve on a toilet or sink, vacuum water with a wet vacuum and setting up fans in cases of flooding, litter collection during site walks, locking the laundry room, reviewing security camera video, etc.
  • Exercises good judgment and discretion to call for other staff or 911 for help in an emergency. Contact maintenance staff or on-call vendors for maintenance emergencies.
  • Directs emergency personnel to various parts of the grounds, buildings, or units, as appropriate. Remains present while emergency staff are on-site.
  • Within 24 hours, records any incidents, unusual occurrences or emergency/after-hours calls on the incident report form and notifies Manager and/ or Property Supervisor.
  • Works with a Property Manager to enforce quiet hours and house rules.
  • Works with security personnel and/or Property Manager to report violations of community and/or house rules.
  • As assigned or as needed, post notices as directed by the Property Manager, coordination with vendors/contractors for on-site work and light general grounds upkeep and cleaning.
  • Submission of the Night Manager weekly log to be emailed to the Property Manager and Property Supervisor weekly.
  • Weekly reporting to the Property Manager noting any incident or issues identified during the nightly property walks will be required.
  • Submit timesheets timely and according to company policy.
  • Attends staff meetings where Night Manager duties are performed, at least once per month or as required. Attendance at the staff meeting can be made via phone.
  • Attendance at community meetings (quarterly for family sites and monthly for senior sites).
  • Attends any and all required training in accordance with company policies.
  • Adheres to house rules of assigned property, including pet, parking, storage, nuisance, sanitation, and egress policies as described in house rules.
  • Adheres to unit inspection requirements to be completed annually by the immediate supervisor to ensure unit is being maintained according to guidelines outlined in the house rules.
  • Sets an example for the community by living up to APM's mission and core values.
  • Must be willing to sign an employee license to sign an agreement which outlines the specific terms and conditions for residing on the property.
  • Other duties as assigned.

How You Meet Qualifications:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to climb 4 flights of stairs at least once per day.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents or employees of organization.
  • Ability to stay calm in emergency situations and de-escalate situations with agitated residents.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Property management experience preferred.
