Job description

A kind and loving family is seeking a full-time live-in or live-out nanny to join their family, caring for their 20-month-old and eventually their second child due in September. The position will begin as soon as the ideal candidate is found. When in Austin at their home base, the general schedule will be Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours guaranteed. The typical schedule will be 7:30 am-5:30 pm with some flexibility, especially during times one parent travels. They travel throughout the year, including up to 1 month internationally in the summer. The parents hope to find a nurturing nanny who can engage their children in developmentally appropriate, fun, and educational activities. Their ideal nanny is loving, calm, confident, reliable, and capable. This is an active, outdoorsy household that values good food, good humor, and an organized, calm home.

This is a childcare-led hybrid role: roughly 85% childcare, 15% household. The ideal candidate is the loving, capable, operational heart of the home.

Childcare (primary)

  • Care for a toddler: engaging, active play (parks, pool, outings), meals, routines, potty training support in time, early learning activities, planning of playdates.
  • Care for an infant, in time: supporting mother with breastfeeding, bottle prep, naps/sleep routines, diapering, developmental play, tracking milestones.
  • Children's meal planning and preparation.
  • Children's laundry, nursery and play area organization, gear and wardrobe management (sizes, seasons, restocking).
  • Coordination of pediatric appointments, classes, and activities; school readiness support as the boys grow.
  • Safe driving of children to activities (family vehicle provided for on-duty use).

Household (secondary)

  • Help tidying communal areas (shared with family; un/loading dishwasher, emptying trash, keeping kitchen countertops clean and organized, etc.)
  • Occasional errands, grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, with boy(s).
  • Light family meal prep, when time allows
  • Household organization and light housekeeping to maintain order between deep cleanings (a housecleaning service handles heavy cleaning).
  • Vendor access and oversight when parents travel (letting in and supervising service providers).
  • Light pet care (feeding, letting the dog out; a walker/sitter covers the rest).
  • Occasional support for family travel: packing for the children and, for the right candidate, traveling with the family domestically and internationally (all travel expenses covered, travel premium paid).

Not part of the role: Deep cleaning, heavy housework, property maintenance, and administrative/PA work for the parents' businesses. Those are staffed separately. The nanny's focus should be on the children and the rhythm of the home.

  • The parents are actively involved, so you must be a team player and also know how to read a room
  • Pitch-in attitude and a proactive and positive personality
  • Organized and one step ahead, especially with travel
  • Excited to work with these ages and know what developmental milestones are coming next
  • Easygoing personality and able to adapt quickly to different environments
  • Confident swimming skills (pool) ideal as the toddler loves to swim

  • Comfortable with a large, friendly dog
  • Travel-ready: experienced traveling with families and current passport
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record (nanny car provided)
  • Professional/career nanny who knows how to maintain boundaries and can navigate being in a live-in role. MUST have experience as a live-in nanny.
  • Tech-savvy (baby connect, calendar, etc.)
  • Team player with excellent communication
  • Infant/child CPR and First-Aid certifications (or be willing to update them ASAP)
  • Legal to work in the US

$30+ per hour plus benefits including 2 weeks PTO, 5 sick days, monthly health insurance stipend, and annual retention bonuses

The nanny will have their own private bedroom and bathroom with an adjacent living area.
