The Opportunity

  • This is a remote position
  • Qualified candidates must currently live in the territory, preferably near a major airport.
  • Traveling up to 75%
  • The territory supports the West region and at times Canada and Latin America
  • Qualified candidates preferred to live in California, Arizona, Texas, Utah or Arizona.

The Molecular Solutions Design Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert and support sales objectives by creating a technical design for customers to drive cost efficiencies, operational productivity and improve the quality of patient care delivery.

This position will utilize, develop, and implement automation, workflow, informatics and/or professional services strategies for the most complex and largest customer base such as key strategic customers and national/regional health systems.

Serve as laboratory workflow consultant and the communication link to both global marketing and US marketing teams. Initiate and implement competitive comparisons to support business strategy as appropriate. Builds and maintains effective long-term relationships with internal and external customers.

What You'll Work On

  • This position will report to the Solutions Design Senior Manager and have national responsibilities.
  • Incumbent of the role will be subject matter expert on automation, workflow, Lab processes, lab design and/or professional services.
  • Due to the nature of the business portfolio, technical expertise has a critical impact on core lab close rate, revenue goal achievement and driving balanced performance in technical specialist teams.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and consultant in the following areas: automation, molecular diagnostics, lean workflow, and/or professional services.
  • Serve as an expert consultant in discussions of molecular design details of lean workflow and professional services offerings.
  • Analyze customer data and conduct workflow assessments, develop effective solutions design reports with insights and recommendations and deliver insights to customers.
  • Share best practices related to efficiency and accuracy that promote functionality of molecular instrumentation and professional services offerings while enhancing customer satisfaction and achievement goals.
  • Responsible for balanced performance across technical specialist teams in achieving molecular diagnostics lab closes, and/or professional services revenue.
  • Responsible for creation, standardization, and dissemination of tools to support the Solution Design team and broader sales organization.
  • Act as liaison and provides input to global/US marketing, R&D and Sales organization for automation, lean workflow, and/or professional services for product and process development and improvement.
  • Collaborate with marketing and product development teams to deliver voice-of-customer feedback to further enhance Abbott Molecular solutions and offerings.
  • Be knowledgeable about laboratory lean workflow and practices, industry trends, changing market regulations and healthcare policy within defined customer segment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong automation, technical laboratory and lean workflow experience are required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of diagnostics and/or laboratory experience is required.
  • Experience with laboratory workflow

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
  • Diagnostics experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience designing, selling and/or implementing multi-site automation and informatics projects preferred.
  • Understand workflow and workflow improvement using Lean principles
  • Laboratory design experience
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification
  • Strong understanding of how technology drives value in healthcare.
  • Experience in building business on current accounts and creating new profitable accounts.
  • Understands IT technology within Hospital Environment.
  • Proficient in client facing solutions demonstrations and presentations
