Live In Help information

What is live in help?

Live-in help refers to individuals who reside in the home of the person or family they are working for, providing assistance with daily activities such as cleaning, cooking, childcare, eldercare, or other household tasks. They may also be called live-in caregivers, housekeepers, or nannies, depending on their primary duties. In exchange for their services, live-in help typically receives room and board in addition to a salary or stipend. This arrangement allows for more flexible and consistent support for households with ongoing needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as live in help, and why are they important?

To thrive as Live In Help, you need basic caregiving skills, household management abilities, and often prior experience or relevant training in domestic assistance. Familiarity with home safety protocols, basic first aid, and sometimes proficiency in using household appliances or mobility aids is important. Patience, reliability, and strong interpersonal communication are essential soft skills for building trust and supporting the well-being of those you assist. These skills ensure the safety, comfort, and overall quality of life for the individuals or families being supported.

What are some common challenges faced by live in help and how can they be managed?

Live-in help often faces challenges such as maintaining work-life boundaries, adapting to a family's routines, and balancing confidentiality with building trust. It is important to establish clear expectations and communicate openly with the household to ensure a healthy working relationship. Taking scheduled breaks, maintaining privacy, and discussing any concerns early can help manage these challenges and create a positive living and working environment.

Job description

General Medicine Nurse Practitioner

Local candidates only. Candidates must live within daily commute range of stated city. Location: Grand Island, NE. Schedule: 1 day per week. Office: OWN OFFICE REQUIRED. You must have your own brick-and-mortar office in Grand Island, NE. The office should be within 25 miles of the city (preferred). Veterans travel to your office for their exams—VES does not provide clinic space at this location.

VES - Veterans Evaluation Services - a private contractor hired by the US Veterans Affairs to conduct medical disability examinations. These exams—often called Compensation and Pension (C&P) exams—help the VA determine service connection and disability ratings for veterans. They are hiring OHC to fill 1 day per week in Grand Island, NE for a General Medicine Nurse Practitioner. This process consists of OHC finding a provider who already has a brick-and-mortar office in Grand Island, NE where veterans can come to them for their exams. The office should be within 25 miles of the city (preferred). Presentations must include the address the provider is coming from.

Requirements needed to present and credential for VES:

  • All items listed as presentation, must be in the presentation for them to look at the candidate.
  • All Presentations need to have address they are coming from as they have to live in with certain radius of the city listed.
  • Items that are listed as credentialing are due within 3 days of being accepted (this is a nonnegotiable process)
    • Online training link sent directly to provider after credentialing approves application (approx. 8-10 hrs. of compensated training) MUST be completed within 7 business days – if not they will be deactivating the provider
    • This is paid – we bill $450 for this training
  • Scheduling the provider happens after all trainings and credentialing is completed
    • Virtual pre-Exam orientation and 1st exams are scheduled
