Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join ET&S in Digital Design and Industrialization as an Additive Design Business Specialist.

As an Additive Design Business Specialist, you will be accountable for leading workstreams in Design for Additive across the US programs, as well as ensure global integration of standards and process for Design for Additive. The work will initially focus on Helicopters Additive Scroll certification for RR300 and lead additive strategy on AE program design for additive work on key engine components.

The successful candidate will primarily work on US Defense Programs, R&T, and Civil Aerospace. It is an excellent opportunity to grow in an exciting area of design with novel ways of designing for additive methods of manufacturing.

This will also provide an opportunity to nurture and grow specialist growth in Model Based Definition (as Additive Design is made and inspected to the model) and looking at optimization and digital design automation for additive.

What you will be doing

  • To provide technical leadership to Digital Design and Industrialization and the wider Design community and ensure compliance to Additive Design processes and standards throughout the product life cycle.
  • To support US Defense Programs with Additive Design delivery commitments.
  • To author standards for Additive Laser Powder Bed Fusion, MIM, Wire DED for Digital Design and Industrialization and the engineering community.
  • To own the Additive Design business strategy and work with the US programs on Additive Design roadmaps.
  • To ensure that the Design teams across Defense and Civil aerospace have the right training and knowledge to develop Additive Design capability across the product portfolio.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/STEM with 5+ years of additive design experience; OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering/STEM with 3+ years of additive design experience; OR
  • JD/PhD
  • In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience in FAA Certification of additive design
  • Experience of delivering Additive Designs in high performing teams and building capability in Additive Design globally.
  • Wire Electron Beam Directed Energy Deposition (Wire DED)
  • Metal injection molding (MIM)
  • Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF)
  • Binder jet additive manufacturing
  • Experience in Siemens PLM Teamcenter and Nx
  • Experience in Additive tools: Altair for Additive, nTop, Ansys Additive suite, DfAM
  • US Professional Body or other national equivalent relevant to specialist subject area and member of a relevant professional body/institute, typically working towards Fellow status (or equivalent)
