Job description:

Dobies Funeral Home has an opening for Funeral Home Assistants.

Per Diem, on-call, as-needed personnel to help with visitations and funerals at our five local funeral home locations.

Professional appearance and clean driving record required.

Chapel Sitter Duties

  • Monitor the room: Sit in or near the chapel or viewing room to ensure a quiet, respectful environment.
  • Assist visitors: Greet grieving family members and guests, hand out memorial folders or register books, and answer basic questions.
  • Maintain supplies: Ensure tissues, water, register cards, and candles or lights are fully stocked and tidy.
  • Notify directors: Inform the licensed funeral director immediately if any family needs or facility issues arise.

Funeral Assistant Duties

  • Set up services: Arrange floral displays, podiums, chairs, and caskets or urns before services begin.
  • Direct traffic and parking: Guide mourners into the chapel, direct parking, and line up cars for the funeral procession.
  • Drive vehicles: Operate the hearse, family cars, or service vans as needed.
  • Provide general support: Help clean up after services, move equipment, and occasionally assist with transfers or preparation tasks under supervision.
