Job description

Prestage Farms is seeking experienced CDL truck drivers to join our team. The truck driver will be responsible for transporting feed and or pickup of live animals destined for other farms or market. They will perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensure the safe and timely delivery of products, and report any issues or concerns related to the vehicle. The truck driver will adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines and must have good communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
  • Good knowledge of FMCSA regulations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAFETY

  • Wear seatbelt anytime vehicle is in motion
  • Safely operate tanker-type tractor/trailer unit with high center of gravity
  • Follow required and recommended safety practices and procedures
  • Report all accidents promptly through proper authorities

OPERATIONS

  • Successfully complete a Road Test and be issued a certificate
  • Properly Pre-Trip and Post-Trip the equipment
  • Work in single driver environment
  • Position equipment properly to safely offload feed into feed bins
  • Drive day/night in variety of climates and traffic
  • Use on-board computer
  • Maintain logs, DVIR, itinerary, and other paperwork as required
  • Fuel equipment and extract on-board computer (or turns in logs) daily
  • Handle shipping documents to insure accuracy and timely submission
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to pass 2-year DOT physical upon initial hire
  • Must be able to climb feed bins to check feed inventory when necessary
  • Must be able to shovel and clean up feed spills that occur from time to time and able to lift 35 # without difficulty
