  • Welcome and check in guests at shelter intake
  • Monitor guest safety and maintain a calm, respectful environment
  • Assist with distributing meals, snacks, and other supplies
  • Perform regular walk-throughs to ensure safety and cleanliness
  • De-escalate conflicts using trauma-informed and compassionate approaches
  • Enforce basic shelter guidelines with dignity and respect
  • Communicate any issues or emergencies to supervisors promptly

Additional Information
  • Shifts are overnight, typically 8-10 hours depending on shelter needs
  • Shelter opens only during cold weather emergencies (defined by local guidelines)
  • Staff will be part of an on-call roster and notified when shifts are needed
  • All training provided
Requirements:Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Reliable and able to report for overnight shifts on short notice during cold weather
  • Ability to remain awake and alert for entire shift
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, compassionate demeanor
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
  • Training in de-escalation, CPR/First Aid, or shelter work is a plus (but not required)
