Familiarity with sound systems, stage lighting, and costume management is typically required, along with adherence to relevant safety and venue protocols. Excellent interpersonal skills, confidence, and professionalism help performers engage audiences and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues. What are some common challenges faced by live-in exotic dancers regarding work-life balance?

Live-in exotic dancers often face unique work-life balance challenges due to the blending of personal and professional spaces. Successful live-in exotic dancers usually develop clear routines and open lines of communication to ensure a healthy balance between their professional responsibilities and personal well-being.

What are live-in exotic dancers?

Live-in exotic dancers are professional performers who reside at a particular venue, club, or private residence where they provide entertainment, often through dance and performance art. Unlike typical exotic dancers who commute to work, live-in dancers have accommodations provided by their employer, which may include room and board as part of their compensation. This arrangement is more common in certain hospitality or adult entertainment settings, especially in resort destinations or private events. The role typically involves performing scheduled shows, engaging with guests, and sometimes assisting with other entertainment-related duties. It is important for both parties to understand and agree upon the terms of residency, compensation, and personal boundaries.

Associate Veterinarian - Avian & Exotic Species Focus

Full-Time  •  4 Days/Week  •  Monday-Friday Only  •  No Weekends

Most practices treat exotic medicine as an afterthought. You've spent your career trying to find the one that doesn't.

At Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital, avian and exotic medicine isn't a side service-it's half of who we are. Fifty percent of our patients are birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, pocket pets, and amphibians. We have built our team, our culture, and our systems around delivering top-notch care to every species that walks, hops, slithers, or flies through our door.

If you love the complexity of exotic medicine, thrive in a hospital that actually takes it seriously, and want a role that respects your time and your expertise-keep reading.

Who We Are

Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital is an 20-year AAHA-accredited general practice and the 2024 AAHA Practice of the Year. We are a multi-species hospital in Windham, NH that has built a genuine reputation for excellence in both companion animal and exotic medicine. Our culture runs on Conscious Care®-a trademarked program developed by our owner that centers on compassion for self, team, clients, patients, and community. This isn't a buzzword. It's how we actually operate.

We are partnered with Alliance Animal Health, but our owner-a 28-year veterinary practice veteran and passionate advocate for both her patients and her team-remains deeply invested and actively involved. She has created a hospital where people want to stay, grow, and do their best work.

Your Patients

This is the part that sets us apart. Half of our caseload is avian and exotic, which means you'll spend your days working with the full spectrum of non-traditional species:

  • Birds (psittacines, passerines, raptors, and more)
  • Rabbits
  • Guinea pigs
  • Ferrets
  • Reptiles (lizards, snakes, chelonians, and beyond)
  • Pocket pets (hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, chinchillas)
  • Amphibians

No two days look alike. The diagnostic puzzles are real, the medicine is nuanced, and the clients are devoted. This is exotic medicine done right-with the equipment, the support staff, and the culture to back it up.
