Position Summary

The Sports Information Director oversees all statistical and media relations aspects of the intercollegiate athletic program, including home event management along with the Athletic Director and chosen staff. This position also supervises and coordinates staff and students to assist with the sports information department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Write daily/weekly releases (recaps, previews, reviews) for all varsity sports via the ONU athletic website in a timely manner.
  2. Produce athletic publications: game notes, brochures, special events, media guides, and others as assigned.
  3. Report post-game results to necessary outlets and people.
  4. Maintain the athletic department website: rosters, player and coach bios, stats, records, photos, stories, and any other necessary updates.
  5. Schedule, train, and supervise all event workers that report to the SID, including press box and scorer's table personnel for each sport.
  6. Manage the SID office by coordinating workers to assist with the various duties of the sports information department.
  7. Promote athletic achievements with the NAIA, CCAC, KCAC, CSC, and other necessary organizations.
  8. Maintain statistical records: both current and historical.
  9. Collaborate with media services to effectively manage all live streams of identified athletic events.
  10. Assist in coordinating special events, such as the Hall of Fame banquet.
  11. Maintain and distribute the master events calendar for use in the department and across campus.
  12. Act as the liaison between the university and the local media, as well as hometown media of university student athletes, the CCAC, and the NAIA, via electronic releases.
  13. Develop, monitor, and implement a social media presence for ONU Athletics.
  14. Collaborate with coaches to schedule and organize media days, team photos, and headshots.
  15. Additional duties as needed and as assigned by the athletic director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  5. Have experience with print media.
  6. Have experience using the Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
  7. Have experience using statistical software, especially PrestoStats.
  8. Use proper English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  9. Demonstrate an understanding and sympathy for education in the Wesleyan tradition and Nazarene school sponsorship.
  10. Demonstrate an active relationship with Christ as expressed in faith and service, which is in accord with the mission of Olivet Nazarene University.
  11. Be a model of Christian discipleship as confirmed through active engagement in a local church, involvement in campus worship, and through a vibrant, current testimony.

Additional Information
EDUCATION
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required; master's degree is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Director of Sports Information reports directly to the Director of Athletics. Offices for athletics staff are in the Perry Convocation Center. Some travel is required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends to provide coverage for events. May be required to work in inclement weather and will be exposed to outdoor weather. The job requires some walking and standing with some light lifting of printers, laptops, and other equipment.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The annual salary range for this position is $43,000 - $48,000 and is based on experience and education.
