Job description

Position: Small Groups Pastor
Reports to: Adult Ministry Pastor
Hours: Full-Time
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
DESCRIPTION:
The Small Groups Pastor provides leadership and direction for all aspects of adult discipleship, with a special focus on small groups and men's ministry. This role ensures that every adult at Stateline Church has opportunities to connect in an authentic community, grow in their faith, and live out God's mission.
The ideal candidate is a relational leader with a heart for discipleship, a strategic mind for systems, and a passion for helping people take next steps in their spiritual journey.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Follower of Jesus Christ.
  2. Strong alignment with Stateline Ch urch's vision, mission, and values.
  3. Demonstrated ability to envision, energize, build, motivate and lead teams.
  4. Demonstrated ability to utilize problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to manage multiple priorities and develop systems for ministry effectiveness.
  6. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Strong communication, teaching, and relational skills.
  8. Proven ability to recruit, equip, and lead volunteer teams.
  9. Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects.
  10. Bachelor's degree in ministry, theology, or related field preferred.
  11. Minimum 3-5 years of pastoral experience in small group or adult ministry leadership preferred.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

  7. Adhere to a high level of confidentiality.

RESPONSIBILITIES & COMMITMENTS:
1. Small Groups & Adult Discipleship
  • Help implement and oversee a comprehensive strategy for adult discipleship through small groups, classes, and connection opportunities.
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd small group leaders; provide ongoing coaching and care.
  • Create and/or oversee pathways for people to connect into groups easily (new member integration, seasonal sign-ups, etc.).
  • Collaborate with programming and creative teams to align group content with Stateline's vision and sermon series.
  • Evaluate the health and effectiveness of small groups, ensuring consistent vision and quality.

2. Pastoral Leadership & Care
  • Provide pastoral support, guidance, and prayer for group leaders and group members as needed.
  • Assist with spiritual formation efforts such as baptism, Start Lunch, and next-step classes.
  • Participate in weekend services (hosting, prayer teams, next steps area, etc.).
  • Support church-wide initiatives and collaborate with other ministry leaders to align adult discipleship with the overall mission.

3. Administrative & Strategic Responsibilities
  • Develop annual goals and ministry budgets for small groups and men's ministry.
  • Maintain group databases, attendance, and metrics to track engagement and growth.
  • Communicate effectively through digital platforms, social media, and print to promote discipleship opportunities when needed.
  • Stay current with best practices and resources in adult discipleship and leadership development.
  • Participate in weddings, funerals, and pastoral care as needed.
  • Lead or assist with church-wide projects and events.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive and/or Lead Pastor.
