Qualifications

  • CDL A (Required)
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Crane: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Crane Certification (Preferred)

The primary function of the Boom Operator is to ensure that candidate completes all assigned work in an efficient, accurate, timely manner, in accordance with both the instructions and direction given by the Foreman and/or Superintendent and the company safety rules and policies. The Boom Operator must be skilled in those areas of residential and commercial construction where they will be assigned and must be able to complete assigned tasks in a professional manner with minimal supervision. When the Foreman is not on the same job as the Boom Operator, The Boom Operator will act as the secondary foreman on the job site.

In addition to ensuring that safety rules are followed on the site at all times, they are also responsible for:

· Be ready to commence work promptly at the designated starting time.

· All work is completed in an efficient and timely manner.

· Contribute to the overall effectiveness and success of the company and crew.

· Demonstrate an exceptional knowledge of their trade.

· Always act professionally and represent the company in a positive manner.

· Work is always done right the first time.

· Comply with all safety procedures, rules and policies.

· Follow all instructions and directions issued by the Superintendent.

· The work area is always maintained in a clean and tidy condition.

· Willingly accept constructive criticism.

· Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow.

· Demonstrate good judgment in identifying and resolving problems.

· Take initiative and are able to work independently.

· Ensure that all work is undertaken in a professional manner, and completed on time.

· At all times be familiar and comply with the safety and health policies and rules.

· Always wear suitable protective boots, glasses and other appropriate safety equipment. (Hardhats and other safety devices when required)

· Ensure that all machinery, equipment and tools are only used for the purpose for which they are designed and are kept in good working order.

· Ensure that all machinery, equipment and tools are cleaned after use and returned to their proper place.

· At the end of the workday, ensure that the immediate work area is left in a clean, tidy and safe state.

· Follow all written policies and procedures.

· Complete all other tasks as directed and specified by the Foreman and/or Superintendent.

To maximize efficiency and productivity, it is crucial for a Boom Operator to possess analytical skills for handling unexpected issues and delays while resolving any problems that may arise.

Must possess a current, valid CDL-A license with a valid and un-expired medical card. Able to operate manual transmission.
