Live. Work. Explore. as a part of our Horse Department team in Yellowstone National Park!
Are you enthusiastic about horses, hospitality, people, and beautiful places? By working at Yellowstone National Park, you will get all four! You will play a vital role in providing services to enhance our guests' experiences through guided tours! We're hiring Stagecoach/Wagon Drivers to Live. Work. Explore. this summer!
Job Summary:
The Stagecoach/Wagon Drivers responsibilities involve safely conducting horseback, wagon, and stagecoach tours while providing informative commentary about park features while ensuring the safety of both employees and guests. Selecting appropriate mounts, maintaining equipment, and overseeing the welfare of the horses as well. Additional tasks include conducting safety orientations, assisting guests with mounting, and performing general maintenance of the corrals.

Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: June 2026 - September 2026
Pay: $19.75/hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 - 50 hours per week, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Safely conduct horseback tours, wagon and stagecoach tours based on company procedures.
  • Provide knowledgeable commentary of Park features.
  • Responsible for employee and guest safety.
  • Inspect and report needed maintenance of Horse Department equipment and tack.
  • Present safety and guest orientation speeches prior to rides.
  • Select appropriate mounts for guests based on their skills and needs.
  • Assist guest(s) in mounting/dismounting assigned stock.
  • Properly adjust tack based on each guests needs.
  • Conduct cinch checks as directed by corral management.

Qualifications
  • Strong communication and commentary skills.
  • Horsemanship and team driving skills.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Knowledge of Yellowstone features, facilities and services.
  • Knowledge of department and company policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements include:
  • Must weigh less than 280 pounds for stagecoach and wagon rides (less than 240 pounds for horseback rides).
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to mount and dismount horse without any assistance.
  • Must be able to work in a high altitude environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to speak and project voice for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in variable weather (including rain, sleet, snow, direct sunlight, high winds, and temperatures ranging from 0° to +100° Fahrenheit).
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work with large, domestic animals in a corral/ranch setting.
  • Must be able to use chemicals for cleaning or animal care.
  • Capable of riding horses or driving teams 12 hours a day.
