Description:

Landon School is seeking a skilled and motivated Building Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities and Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our beautiful 75-acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of maintenance and repair activities that support the daily operations of our 17-building campus, helping to create a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair work across campus, including painting, drywall, minor plumbing, basic electrical, and carpentry tasks
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance of facilities and equipment
  • Support event setup and breakdown, furniture moving, and room configurations
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
  • Support snow and ice removal efforts during inclement weather
  • Other duties as assigned

All Landon employees are asked to support the general operations of the school when needed, including assisting with carpool, event support, and emergency drills. Additionally, those willing to assist with transportation/busing receive premium pay.

Requirements:
  • Prior experience in general maintenance & facilities including basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, as well as hand and power tools
  • Ability to lift & carry heavy equipment and materials on a regular basis
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively in English with teachers, staff, students and others
  • Strong work ethic, detailed oriented, and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work varying hours and an occasional weekend as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects (50+ lbs.)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
