Job description

Experienced Ap/Cp Board-Certified Pathologist

A national pathology and diagnostic laboratory organization is seeking an experienced AP/CP Board-Certified Pathologist for a full-time opportunity.

This role requires on-site work reporting to the Coppell laboratory site along with regional travel to hospital-based laboratories throughout Texas to provide pathology coverage and support as needed. Travel may occasionally extend into surrounding markets and may be scheduled in advance or arise on shorter notice, so flexibility is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for a pathologist with community hospital experience who enjoys a dynamic practice environment and is comfortable supporting a combination of laboratory-based responsibilities and regional hospital coverage.

Position Highlights
  • Frequent travel throughout Texas and potentially surrounding markets
  • Opportunity with a respected and growing pathology/diagnostics organization
  • High-impact role supporting hospital-based pathology services across multiple sites
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic interpretation and sign-out of surgical pathology, frozen section pathology, and/or cytology specimens
  • Provide pathology coverage for hospital-based laboratories throughout Texas, with flexibility to support additional regional coverage needs as required
  • Perform gross examination of surgical tissues as needed
  • Consult with physicians and clients regarding pathology findings, test utilization, and diagnostic support
  • Provide diagnostic information to treating and referring physicians through accurate, timely pathology reporting
  • Participate in laboratory quality control, quality assurance, and infection control initiatives
  • Participate in proficiency testing programs, departmental meetings, and quality improvement efforts to support diagnostic accuracy and quality of care
  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership, pathology staff, and hospital personnel to ensure seamless pathology services across supported sites
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, state, and federal regulations
  • Complete additional responsibilities as needed in support of pathology operations
Qualifications
  • MD or DO required
  • Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) required
  • Unlimited and unrestricted medical license in the applicable state(s), or ability to obtain licensure
  • Minimum of three (3) years of pathology experience in a community hospital setting strongly preferred
  • Experience with surgical pathology, frozen sections, and cytology preferred
  • Subspecialty board certification in cytopathology or gynecologic pathology is a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout Texas and support a regional hospital coverage model
  • Comfortable with a role that combines on-site laboratory responsibilities with travel-based hospital coverage
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinicians, hospital staff, and laboratory teams
  • Working knowledge of pathology quality standards, regulatory requirements, and laboratory operations
