Job description

Anderson, Rasor & Partners, LLP is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join our Chicago office. This position is an integral part of our legal support team and will provide dedicated administrative and litigation support to approximately two to three attorneys in a busy litigation practice.


The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented and proactive. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, anticipates needs and is comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines while providing responsive, professional support to attorneys, clients and colleagues.


What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, revise, proofread, format and finalize correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas and other legal documents.
  • Assist with electronic court filings and service of legal documents.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, including court dates, depositions, hearings, meetings and other deadlines.
  • Monitor upcoming deadlines and proactively follow up on time-sensitive matters.
  • Coordinate depositions, meetings, conference calls and appointments.
  • Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations and trials.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical matter files.
  • Assist attorneys with timely time entry, billing requirements and related administrative responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with the firm's billing and administrative teams to ensure requested information is provided accurately and timely.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts and other external contacts.
  • Prepare correspondence, expense reports, check requests and other administrative documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants and administrative personnel.
  • Manage multiple assignments and follow through on projects from initiation through completion.
  • Perform additional practice and administrative support responsibilities as needed.


What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ Years Prior legal assistant or legal secretary experience in a litigation environment.
  • Strong knowledge of litigation terminology, procedures and court filing requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong proofreading, grammar and attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently prioritize multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to work and a demonstrated ability to follow through.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professionalism, discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning and using legal and firm technology systems.
