SUMMARY:

A well-established insurance defense law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Insurance Defense Litigation Associate Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join its growing practice. The role focuses on insurance defense, first-party coverage matters, general liability defense, subrogation, and special investigations (SIU)-related work. The firm represents insurance carriers and provides strategic, results-driven legal solutions in high-exposure and complex litigation matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Handle insurance defense litigation matters from intake through resolution

- Manage first-party coverage disputes and general liability cases

- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and coverage-related correspondence

- Conduct depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances

- Analyze complex insurance claims and develop case strategy and evaluations

- Communicate with insurance carriers, clients, experts, and opposing counsel

- Collaborate with partners and firm leadership on litigation strategy and case handling

- Support SIU/fraud-related investigations and risk mitigation efforts as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

- Active license to practice law in Mississippi (required)

- 5+ years of litigation experience (insurance defense strongly preferred)

- Experience in insurance coverage, general liability, or subrogation matters

- Alabama bar admission is a plus

- Exposure to SIU (Special Investigations Unit) or fraud-related claims is a plus

- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills

- Ability to independently manage litigation files and deadlines

- Strong communication and client management skills
