Job description

This is an opportunity for a risk professional to join the Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. (CGMI) CRO team. The team's responsibilities are distinct and broad.
Primarily, the team is responsible for the direct risk oversight across all risk stripes (market, credit, operational, etc.) for the CGMI legal entity. This entity is a key part of Citi's operations, acting as a US broker-dealer, a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM), and a Swap Dealer.
In addition to this direct oversight, our team has a wider mandate. We are responsible for the centralized risk governance for all of Citi's registered Swap Dealer (SD) and Security-Based Swap Dealer (SBSD) entities. This structure ensures a consistent and robust risk framework across these critical, regulated entities.
As a Vice President, you will support the CRO in initiatives that enhance risk management across this scope. This role offers a chance to gain insight into the management of a bank/broker-dealer, with exposure to key regulators like the SEC, FINRA, and CFTC. You will develop a functional understanding of market, credit, operational, and liquidity risks, and the regulatory frameworks that govern our business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Critical Risk Governance:
    • Coordinate the risk governance process for Swap Dealers, including reviewing quarterly Risk Exposure Reports, preparing Risk Tolerance Limit packages for the Swap Dealer Governing Body (SDGB) and the CGMI Board.
    • Manage the annual updates for core governance documents, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Addenda, and coordinate their review and approval by executive committees and the Board.
    • Assist in compiling materials for the Risk Management Executive Committee and CGMI Board meetings.
  • Enhance and Oversee Core Risk Frameworks:
    • Lead the coordination of annual and quarterly Risk ID Statement reviews, ensuring our understanding of potential risks is current.
    • Manage the governance and inventory for our Limits and Thresholds framework.
    • Partner with Model Risk Management to develop reporting for our quarterly regulatory meetings.
  • Manage Market Risk Oversight:
    • Organize and facilitate discussions with senior management regarding North American (NAM) market risk exposures and trends.
    • Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance and streamline the reporting of NAM market risk to senior management.
  • Lead Regulatory and Audit Engagement:
    • Act as a central point of contact for internal and external audits.
    • Support the firm's compliance with regulations through proactive engagement in Regulatory Exams, Policy & Procedure documents updates.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with risk analysts, managers, and other stakeholders across various teams and internal risk management systems to gather information, drive initiatives, and ensure execution of risk management processes.
    • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on New Activities, providing risk-based insights.
    • Assist the team's Directors and Managing Director with ad-hoc strategic initiatives and projects as needed.
Innovation and Technology
Our team is at the forefront of modernizing risk management by integrating advanced technology into our core processes. We are actively leveraging AI to enhance efficiency, improve analytical capabilities, and automate reporting. As a member of our team, you will be expected to contribute to this transformation, identifying opportunities to apply AI and helping to build a more data-driven and forward-looking risk function.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Experienced Risk Professional: 4+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry, ideally in a risk management role focused on market risk or within the Enterprise Risk Management function of a large bank. Familiarity with the legal entity space is a significant advantage.
  • Expert in AI and Prompt Engineering: Demonstrated expertise in applying AI concepts to business problems. Must possess strong prompt engineering skills and a clear understanding of how to leverage large language models for analysis, reporting, and process automation.
  • Intellectually Curious: Possess a desire to learn and the ability to absorb and retain a wide breadth of complex information.
  • Analytical: You have strong problem-solving skills and the analytical capability to dissect complex risk concepts.
  • Effective Communicator: You can explain intricate risk concepts to diverse stakeholders, from quantitative analysts to senior executives.
  • Independent Contributor: You are an independent thinker, comfortable expressing a well-reasoned opinion or proposing a solution in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • Adaptable and Resilient: Thrives in a dynamic environment that is flat and not overly structured; able to manage multiple priorities and navigate ambiguity effectively.
  • Proactive and Accountable: Demonstrates a high degree of ownership, takes initiative on projects, and is comfortable working independently to drive results.
  • Organized: You have excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Academic Foundation: A bachelor's degree with an analytical focus (e.g., Finance, Business Administration, Economics) is required.
