Job description

The Regional Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across Lionstone Corporate’s Southern Region. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and patient-centered clinical services while driving operational efficiency, workforce engagement, and clinical excellence.

The Regional Director partners closely with facility leadership, nursing teams, and corporate stakeholders to implement best practices, maintain regulatory compliance, and achieve key performance goals across multiple sites.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day clinical operations across assigned facilities in the Southern Region
  • Ensure consistent execution of corporate clinical programs, policies, and procedures
  • Drive performance against key metrics including quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, staffing, and cost control
  • Identify operational gaps and implement sustainable process improvements

Clinical Excellence & Quality

  • Promote a culture of clinical excellence and patient-centered care
  • Monitor and improve clinical quality indicators (e.g., infection control, readmissions, incident reporting)
  • Lead regional quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices and clinical standards

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS and accreditation requirements
  • Conduct site audits, mock surveys, and compliance reviews
  • Partner with facility leaders to prepare for and successfully navigate surveys and inspections
  • Investigate and resolve clinical incidents and regulatory issues

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Mentor and support Directors of Nursing and clinical leaders across the region
  • Build leadership bench strength through coaching, training, and succession planning
  • Collaborate with HR to recruit, retain, and engage high-performing clinical teams
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative culture

Financial & Strategic Performance

  • Support budget development and manage regional clinical labor and supply costs
  • Analyze data to drive decision-making and optimize resource utilization
  • Partner with executive leadership on growth initiatives, new acquisitions, and integrations
  • Align regional goals with corporate strategic priorities

Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as the key liaison between corporate leadership and facility clinical teams
  • Facilitate regular regional meetings to review performance, priorities, and initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, compliance, HR, and finance departments
  • Provide timely reporting on clinical performance and key initiatives

Education & Credentials

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required (multi-state licensure preferred)
  • Associates degree in Nursing

Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive clinical leadership experience
  • Multi-site or regional leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in [post-acute care / behavioral health / long-term care / specialty services — adjust as appropriate]
  • Demonstrated success in regulatory compliance, survey readiness, and quality improvement
