Job Summary
Infra Technology Specialist with expertise in Linux administration across RHEL SLES and OEL along with strong AIX administration experience. Role focuses on designing operating and optimizing secure enterprise infrastructure in a hybrid work model. Exposure to cards and payments domain is preferred for supporting critical transaction systems in a stable and compliant way.
Responsibilities
• Manage complex Linux environments on RHEL SLES and OEL to ensure high availability security and consistent performance for enterprise workloads.
• Administer AIX systems including user management resource tuning and patching to maintain robust and resilient compute platforms.
• Implement standard build templates system hardening guidelines and configuration baselines to support compliant infrastructure operations.
• Monitor system health using enterprise tools analyze performance trends and apply corrective actions to prevent service disruptions.
• Coordinate planned maintenance patching and firmware updates during day shifts to minimize business impact for global stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot incidents across Linux and AIX platforms by performing detailed root cause analysis and documenting permanent fixes to reduce repeat issues.
• Collaborate with application database and network teams in a hybrid work model to plan capacity optimize resource utilization and support release activities.
• Automate routine administration tasks such as user provisioning backup checks and log reviews using scripts to improve operational efficiency.
• Align infrastructure solutions with security and compliance standards relevant to cards and payments where applicable including strict access and audit practices.
• Prepare and maintain runbooks standard operating procedures and configuration records to enable consistent and transparent operations.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand infrastructure requirements propose technically sound solutions and communicate realistic implementation timelines.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery readiness by validating backup strategies participating in recovery drills and refining recovery procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying optimization opportunities sharing technical knowledge and mentoring peers on Linux and AIX best practices.
Qualifications
• Demonstrate six to ten years of hands on experience in Linux administration covering RHEL SLES and OEL with strong skills in installation configuration and lifecycle management.
• Exhibit solid experience in AIX administration including LPAR management storage integration and performance tuning in enterprise environments.
• Apply working knowledge of shell scripting or similar scripting approaches to automate operational tasks and enhance reliability.
• Show familiarity with infrastructure monitoring ticketing tools and IT service management practices to manage incidents and changes effectively.
• Display understanding of security hardening patch management and access control concepts for systems that may support cards and payments processing.
• Possess exposure to the cards and payments domain such as authorization flows or settlement operations which is considered a beneficial skill.
• Operate effectively in a hybrid work model communicating clearly with distributed teams and managing priorities without supervision.
Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $75,000- $90,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
