Job description

Project Engineer, Mission Critical — Build the Data Centers Powering Everything

Reno, NV | Full-Time, Exempt | $70,000 – $85,000

The Opportunity

Mission critical construction is the hottest sector in the industry — data centers can't wait, can't fail, and can't be built by just anyone. Our client, one of the Southwest's largest general contractors with 50 years of building and projects exceeding $100M, is hiring a Project Engineer for a mission critical project in Reno. You'll work directly with Project Managers and Superintendents at the center of the action: RFIs, submittals, document control, and daily field coordination on a project where precision is everything. There's no faster way to build a serious construction career.

Why You'll Love It

  • Mission critical experience: Data center work is the most in-demand résumé line in construction right now
  • Real responsibility, day one: Own RFIs, submittals, and project documentation on an active build
  • Mentorship that matters: Learn from experienced PMs and Superintendents on a high-stakes project
  • Full benefits + Nevada: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, parental leave, PTO — and no state income tax

What You'll Do

  • Process and track RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings; keep logs accurate and current
  • Support subcontractor coordination and communication across active scopes
  • Maintain project documentation and document control systems
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for OAC and subcontractor meetings
  • Assist with schedule updates and progress tracking
  • Review drawings and specs; help flag conflicts and constructability issues — critical on MEP-heavy mission critical work
  • Support QC walks, punch lists, commissioning support, and closeout documentation
  • Assist PMs with change orders, budgets, and cost tracking
  • Spend time in the field learning sequences, logistics, and site operations

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience
  • 0–3 years of commercial construction experience (internships count); mission critical or MEP-heavy project exposure a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and sharp attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; Procore, Bluebeam, or similar a plus
  • A proactive, team-first attitude and hunger to learn
  • Comfort working from a job trailer on an active construction site

Drug-free workplace. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
