The Platform Engineer is responsible for maintaining and advancing the enterprise's Tanium infrastructure and tooling. This individual works as part of a results-oriented, service-delivery team and collaborates with configuration analysts, release engineers, developers, and operations teams. The Platform Engineer performs root cause analysis of problems, develops and implements automation tools, and actively participates in deep technical discussions to drive endpoint visibility, security, and operational efficiency across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, planning and implementation of Tanium platform solutions, ensuring maximum performance and reliability
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize the Tanium Server, Zone Servers, and client deployments at scale
  • Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle priorities effectively
  • Ensure meticulous attention to detail and maintain excellent organizational skills
  • Evaluate, test, and integrate new system versions, drivers, and patches
  • Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions
  • Demonstrable experience leveraging AI tooling to improve work quality and efficiency
  • Thorough understanding of core system security & hardening concepts and processes
  • Provide support to, and coordinate with, developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-users
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals and maintain system integrity
  • Take part in periodic, scheduled weekend assignments to support essential project deliveries
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support

Knowledge and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or platform engineering roles
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering the Tanium platform, including server architecture, client deployment, and module management
  • Solid understanding of Linux system services, package management (RPM/YUM/DNF), and shell scripting
  • Strong understanding of endpoint management, patch lifecycle, and vulnerability remediation processes
  • Experience with horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability
  • Skilled in analytics and problem solving
  • Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment
  • Active understanding of Project Management, organization, and time management
  • Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and business resources

Desired Knowledge and Experience
  • Tanium Certified Administrator (TCA) or Tanium Certified Operator (TCO) certification
  • Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience with Ansible automation and/or Python scripting
