Location: Alpharetta, GA (Day 1 onboarding onsite / in office presence 3x week)
Some off hours, occasional weekend work - candidate should be flexible.
a Sr. Systems Engineer to join the 200 server RHEL Infrastructure team. This team is responsible for compute, enterprise storage, virtualization, and backup technologies. The Sr. Systems Engineer will be responsible for engineering and operational duties for a diverse set of technologies with a focus on Linux and storage. The position requires excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently to meet team goals and objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
 
Participate in all aspects of Linux server lifecycle management, on-premises and in the public cloud, including: deployment, maintenance, security, and decommissioning
Lead security focused efforts to harden the Linux environment through OS firewalling, SELinux, auditd, encryption/cryptography, MFA, etc.
Identify areas where automation for operational improvement of day-to-day/manual tasks can be deployed across various systems & storage technologies
Respond to and resolve alerts associated with Linux, VMware, and storage events
Leverage enterprise tools to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot systems and make informed decisions for workload optimization
Collaborate with other infrastructure teams in the troubleshooting and resolution of escalated system and application related issues
Maintain current and accurate Confluence documentation for team technologies
Maintain team source code in SCM/Git
Track projects and tasks in Jira Job Requirements
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
7+ years of proven experience in managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux and VMware
Experience supporting Linux systems running Oracle DBs in an iSCSI/FC SAN environment
Proven skills using Bash, Python, or Ansible for scripting and automation
REST API scripting/automation experience a plus
Red Hat Satellite experience in patching and vulnerability management
CIS standards implementation/adoption a plus
Strong NetApp file/block (NFS/iSCSI/FC) storage experience preferred NFSv4 w/Kerberos authentication experience a plus
Cisco UCS or other blade infrastructure experience a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Willing to work occasional off-hours
