Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA

Flexible Start-Date - Immediate Opening
Your work will involve working as part of a team, administer and manage servers and end-user workstations in both unclassified and classified network environments on a Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Program.
This position will provide engineering, design, and implementation solutions for multiple network architectures.
As the Linux System Administrator, you will be responsible for:
โ€ข Utilize Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration experience to provide technical problem solving and in-depth consulting relative to system operations.
โ€ข Provide expertise and support for data gathering, analysis, and reporting for the Cybersecurity Compliance Assessment (CSCA) Tool monthly.
โ€ข Provide support Dahlgren Information Repository for CyberSecurity (DIRCS) development and other automation/data consolidation to provide value added cyber compliance reporting from existing toolset in use and display those on a per asset/package/department basis and would be capable of providing views useful to both management and more detailed reporting for technical POCs.
โ€ข Automate installation methods and system imaging (e.g. Kickstart/Ansible)
โ€ข Use cryptographic experience to set up public key infrastructure (PKI) to create, manage, distribute, use, store, and revoke digital certificates and manage public-key encryption.
โ€ข DISA STIG implementation and work within Configuration-Managed Environments
โ€ข Analyze, design, and implement modifications to system software to improve and enhance system performance by correcting errors.
โ€ข Plan new hardware acquisitions, interact with vendors, educate customers, and collaborate with other projects within the organization.
โ€ข Work closely with engineers to help them use workstations and servers to solve their computationally intensive problems.
โ€ข Support application installation, license management, software tracking / distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files
โ€ข Understand and use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments, and documentation.
โ€ข Operate running systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, starting and stopping virtual machines, and controlling services.
โ€ข Configure local storage using partitions and logical volumes.
โ€ข Create and configure file systems and file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists, and network file systems.
โ€ข Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, update, and core services.
โ€ข Manage users and groups, including use of a centralized directory for authentication.
โ€ข Produce and deliver reports on system utilization.
โ€ข Use shell scripting to automate system maintenance tasks.
โ€ข Configuring system logging, including remote logging
โ€ข Configure a system to provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SMTP, SSH and NTP
To qualify, you will need:
โ€ข DOD Secret Security Clearance
โ€ข CompTIA Security+CE or equivalent active IAT level 2 certification
โ€ข 3-5 years of professional experience in system administration of Linux-based servers and Linux-based workstations.
โ€ข Seeking specific experience with the following operating systems and services is required: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7.x)
โ€ข Linux+ or Red Hat Certification preferred
