Summary

Solutions Engineer

Arlington, VA

Are you ready to enhance your skills and build your career in a rapidly evolving business climate? Are you looking for a career where professional development is embedded in your employer’s core culture? If so, Chenega Military, Intelligence & Operations Support (MIOS) could be the place for you! Join our team of professionals who support large-scale government operations by leveraging cutting-edge technology and take your career to the next level!

We deliver essential technology services in support of missions critical to national security and economic stability. SecuriGence is seeking a highly skilled Solutions Engineer with strong systems engineering expertise, deep technical breadth, and proven technical credibility to support DARPA product teams.

This role spans systems-focused and security-focused product lines, requiring an engineer who can operate as both a solutions architect and a hands-on implementer. You will design, implement, and integrate advanced technologies across secure, classified, and airgapped environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will lead engineering projects end-to-end, drive architectural decisions, and continuously evolve our technical posture through learning and modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, and implement Linux- and Windows-based enterprise systems, backend services, orchestration platforms, and secure infrastructure components.
  • Support solution architecture and technical design for emerging DARPA product capabilities, producing system diagrams, interface definitions, and integration patterns.
  • Apply deep technical breadth across systems engineering, networking, cybersecurity, cloud, data flows, automation, and distributed systems to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Serve as a trusted technical authority, demonstrating strong technical credibility with engineering peers, stakeholders, and customer counterparts.
  • Engineer, integrate, and maintain security tools (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, vulnerability management, host and network sensors).
  • Lead systems hardening, secure configurations, STIG implementation, and cybersecurity compliance activities.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional product teams (systems, software, security, cloud, DevOps, research) to align engineering decisions with mission and product goals.
  • Develop automation and CI/CD workflows—including airgapped pipelines—for deployment, testing, and configuration management.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting across hybrid infrastructures, distributed services, and mission-critical operational environments.
  • Continuously evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and methods, demonstrating continuous learning and adaptability to evolving mission needs.
  • Ensure project transition success by delivering strong documentation, knowledge transfer, and sustainment handoff to receiving teams.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support to sustain critical operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, software/application development, or security engineering, including:
  • 3+ years in classified or airgapped environments
  • CompTIA Security+
  • DoD IAT Level II or III Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Technical Depth & Breadth

  • Deep technical breadth across Linux systems, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, and distributed system design.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft and Linux engineering (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu Server), SELinux, kernel tuning, systemd, and OS-level security.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Chef) and infrastructure automation.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift).
  • Ability to architect, design, and document complex systems and security solutions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) in secure or regulated environments, and good understanding of automation and CI/CD pipelines in airgapped or restricted networks.

Security Tools & Frameworks

  • Experience integrating and operating SIEM/SOAR platforms (Splunk, Cortex, QRadar, Sentinel).
  • Familiarity with EDR, IDS/IPS, OSQuery, Suricata, Zeek, Tenable/Nessus, and hardening frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of NIST, STIGs, RMF, ATO processes, and security architecture.

Solution Architecture & Technical Credibility

  • Demonstrated ability to support architectural decisions, evaluate alternatives, and propose secure, scalable system designs.
  • Respected as a technical leader with the ability to influence engineering decisions and gain buy-in from diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to present solutions to leadership, external partners, and government stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Proven experience working with multidisciplinary teams across systems engineering, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, cloud, software development, and operational teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate mission needs into technical requirements.
  • Continuous Learning & Adaptability
  • Ability to stay current with emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, and modern engineering practices.
  • Comfortable learning rapidly, adapting solutions, and leading teams through evolving mission environments.
