Job description

SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, the Systems Administrator III assists with the design, implementation, maintenance, and primary support of Intel platforms within Motion's enterprise technology environment. This includes Windows and Linux servers, VMware, ESX infrastructure, storage, Active Directory, O365, development support & planning of systems and applications infrastructure, and 3rd-level endpoint support as needed. This role requires strong knowledge of server and desktop processing/operating systems that enables them to work at the highest level of all computer operations phases. This role handles complex problems across multiple technology platforms.

You must be eligible to work in the US without Visa Sponsorship.

JOB DUTIES

  • Maintains essential IT hardware, software, operating systems, and applications independently.
  • Performs Windows and/or Linux server administration.
  • Helps employees to access technical resources by troubleshooting complex IT issues and assessing unusual problems.
  • Provides support and administration for all O365 related products.
  • Performs VMware maintenance and configuration.
  • Designs and manages application interfaces and dependencies.
  • Provides architectural design and support for multiple application platforms.
  • Develops and maintains platform diagrams and network documentation.
  • Ensures Business Continuance plans remain viable and meet company goals.
  • Provides tier 3 troubleshooting as required.
  • Leads in upgrading, installing, and configuring application software and hardware.
  • Mentors lower level employees.
  • Creates and manages system permissions and user accounts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and five (5) or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Comprehensive hands-on knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Experience resolving recovery procedures and experience working with a variety of operating systems and systems performance-monitoring tools.
  • Comprehensive hands-on knowledge of VMware virtualization technology.
  • Detailed knowledge of O365 products.
  • Detailed knowledge of Active directory and Group Policy.
  • Detailed knowledge of various IT infrastructure hardware (servers, switches, SAN fabric, and mid-range platforms.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of programming languages with strong problem-solving skills to analyze unusual IT problems.
  • Scripting (Linux shell, PowerShell).
  • Detailed knowledge of application requirements such as security, performance, reliability, and redundancy.
  • Knowledge of modern network designs including operational aspects and security.
