If you love solving puzzles, building new things, fixing what’s broken, or pushing the boundaries of creativity, we encourage you to explore the details of this position below!

UNCOMN is seeking a Cloud Engineer 2 to:
  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure cloud infrastructure to support enterprise applications.
  • Provision and maintain cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Support application deployments in cloud environments, including containerized workloads.
  • Monitor system performance and availability, implementing solutions to optimize reliability and scalability.
  • Administer and maintain Linux-based systems and cloud-hosted databases in production environments.
  • Manage identity and access controls using technologies such as SAML, OAuth, and federated authentication.
  • Support and maintain AWS GovCloud environments in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization to balance performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with development and security teams to support application infrastructure and cloud operations.
  • Document cloud architecture, configurations, and processes to ensure consistency and operational continuity.
  • Stay current with evolving cloud technologies and best practices to support continuous improvement.
This position description outlines the core duties for this role, but it is not all-inclusive. Responsibilities may shift based on contract requirements, mission needs, or organizational objectives.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of related experience, preferably within AWS environments.

  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and managing enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code to automate provisioning and management of cloud resources.
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, and virtual private cloud (VPC) architectures, with the ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues in cloud environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, containerized workloads and Linux command-line fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Git; exposure to GitLab CI and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Helm/Kustomize, Terraform) is a plus.
  • Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues in partnership with development, security, and infrastructure teams within enterprise cloud environments.
  • Awareness of API/Gateway, service mesh, or Zero Trust themes.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps and policy-as-code (e.g. Kyverno).
  • DoD/IC/government exposure helpful but not required if commercial or platform fundamentals are strong.
